Good. So many others, including me, believed Avalon wanted help - but his TV, books, and some attention is enough. In contrast, @Guy Fawkes is too distracted by running this site to have anything more than superficial understand of Avalon.

@marylander1940 Very good question, @marylander1940 you have understood Avalon far better than anyone else.
  3. As to "Latter Days," it would be very difficult to match Steven Sandvoss' charm and audience appeal to gay audience.
  4. "The Opposite of Sex" with David Burtka never played on Broadway, but was featured in Williamstown about a decade ago. Burtka was okay, but not ready for New York in a musical. And it has been a long time since he was naked off-Broadway in Edward Albee's "The Play About The Baby."

This reads like a definitive response. Perhaps it is why his doctor has so little contact with Avalon.

It took him many months to make ANY decision. Be satisfied that he finally has a walker.

If he would post more thoughtfully and a bit less, it would not be an issue. But, Avalon is stubborn.
  8. I rented cars in Slovenia and Croatia before returning to Sarajevo. Drove as far as the Austrian-Slovenian border. But, Bosnia was the reason for the trip.

Excellent response. But, he has not been outdoors for many months, as you know. Avalon could be outside by just opening the front door of his apartment and taking a few steps with his walker. It does not involve seeing a doctor. By this time I hope he is proficient enough with his walker to try at least. I don't think he is able to walk any further, but taking a few steps outside could be helpful to feel a little better about his situation.
  10. Generals are seldom liked by officers or enlisted me and women. Absolutely true of Westmoreland in Vietnam, but General Abrams was the exception in Vietnam; he was liked by most people.
  11. My impression from watching her interviewed: close friends called her Merman, not Ethel. After all, It was not her real last name. Mary Martin did visit her four or five times when Merman was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. A lot considering Ethel lived in New York & Mary in California. Always competitive, Merman finally used a walker after one of Mary's visits. And she kept using the walker, but it did not help much (unlike @Avalon).
  12. @Avalon, thank you so much for this thread.

  15. Yes. And it changed my life significantly for the better because of the people I met and places I went. Agree with @Max about serving with heroes.
  16. Ah. Russia borders Japan. Look at a map once in a while. It was to the U.S. eternal benefit to ally with the Soviet Union in the Second World War. I was not even a history major in college, but I like maps.
