Find a job you really like and,if possible, helpful to people . I was very l lucky to have a pension. More rare now, sadly. Still, some jobs with pensions are available in local government.

Respectfully, you are not answering your original question. You and "your partner" may not be interested in visiting the Persian gulf, but I am.

May not be a good time to visit Ukraine, South Sudan, or move to Russia if one is queer. I did explore St. Petersburg, Russia in 2005 (no first class flights, or tours of any kind).
