  1. Have you heard of FOMO? Fear Of Missing Out. My Millennial friends taught me about it. (they are a weird species) Well, perhaps this is a case of FOMI, Fear Of Missing It. They are afraid of losing the frame if they take their eyes out of the camera.
  2. You get to a certain point in a conversation where you realize that there is no drive from curiosity and exploration but just need of reaffirmation. Then, I give up.
  3. I am trying to keep an open mind.
  4. Perhaps it is my bad English. Sometimes I do wonder what the distance is between what I mean to say, and what I am actually writing. But I think Berger and Luckmann are beyond any misreadings, if you have an average intelligence.
  5. I think you may have a reading and comprehension issue. Or my English is just fucked up. Take a read at Berger & Luckmann's book.
  6. 100% agreed. But I do not think @Tygerscent is advocating for looking for an explanation or a cause for homosexuality. If I understand what he is saying, he is speaking of how the interactions between our individual biological traits and our particular social context will built how our sexuality is expressed. Rather than an hermeneutic, he is looking for a phenomenology. Of course, I may be wrong.
  7. I agree in general, but the issue is not only gay men. I think everyone who does not see that we are a social construction built on our biology, is in denial. What is sad in the case of gay people when they do not realize it is that they mirror oppressive structures instead of enjoying a journey of self discovery and self construction.
  8. And why anyone would care about such shortsighted and stupid comments?
  9. Additionally, if you are an HBO subscriber, take a look at the first section of the show. The edition they did mocking the Applebees/CNN commercial misstep is freaking hilarious.
  10. You can erase this thread if you want to. PS: Sorry! I just responded to the alert without noticing you already moved it. Thank you!
  11. I am trying this thread in the Lounge, let's see how long before it has to be moved to Politics. Do you follow John Oliver's show? It is one of my favorite ones. Last weekends the topic was sex work and human traffic. Excellent.
  12. I never said that. If you read my article, you will see that I describe in detailed the oppressive features of specific labels, without posing universal laws.
  13. I agree there. We choose our life style. You do know that a lot of people choose an oppressive life style, right? There is not shortage of self hating people of all kinds.
  14. I disagree. In my opinion what is called today "gay life style" is just conformist reproduction of binary, heteronormative patterns, with no self questioning. Just another oppressive label. If that is healthy for you, I am glad for you. It does not work for me.
  15. Meh. I did not choose to be homosexual. I do choose my lifestyle. "Gay lifestyle" is a debatable reality. https://ilikepinga.com/2021/05/29/gay-is-not-good/
  16. Uh? I think I am in the wrong place. Or you are talking about 3 decades ago.
  17. Keep debating nature vs nurture is absurd. We are both.

  19. Gay and Straight and Bisexuality are all labels that will probably lose relevance. Hopefully, they all will die someday.
  20. I am researching Medellin right now, as I will be there in April. There is plenty of fresh information in ex-boytoy. Specifically about Club Tobi, I understand that they closed with the first pandemic kick. That is why the last review is from a couple of years ago.
  21. I just booked my flight tickets to Medellin and my airbnb for April. I will be stying in a small apartment near Laureles.
  22. "Música folclórica argentina" predates Tango in the Argentine Music History's timeline. Unlike Tango, it represents the deep inner country and the most traditional cultural values. Although the folkloric movement embraced political progressive ideas, I had never heard of a switch on cultural values until recently. You will need to use a translator, but I recommend you to read this article. It provides a general outlook of several very interesting queer developments. I cannot picture what a non South American brain sees in these pictures. When I saw these pictures and read this article, I was not able to see beauty, but felt an intense curiosity. Then, I found this video: Cosquín is the most important folkloric music festival in Argentina. Until now, it was the last shelter for "traditional family values". The fact that an artist like Ferni would have broken those boundaries was thrilling even before watching her performance. When I watched her performance, something strange happened. There was a battle in my brain between those parts of me I have been demolishing for decades on one side, and on the other those parts of me I have been constructing for most of my life. When I hit play, at the beginning I was too distracted by her looks and her mannerisms. I could appreciate her singing a little bit, but the dinosaur in me who never ends to die would keep me judging. And then I closed my eyes. Indeed, she is an exceptionally talented singer. This interpretation is personal, honest, and beautiful. She moves me. When I opened my eyes again, my prejudices were gone and I was able to fully appreciate her performance and the intentionality in some of her body language. I have always been moved to tears when I am listening to interpretations by artists like Atahualpa Yupanqui or Suma Paz, this is the first time that a new artists moves me.
  23. In November 2020 I coincided in Rio with Rhyheim Shabazz. He brought a bunch of guys from USA and several Brazilian cities. I do not remember the hotel, because I was not there. However, Rhyheim told me the hotel manager and every single staff member were delighted to have them staging porn in their hotel. He even got discounts, and every single porn star visitor had a single room. If you do not disturb other guests, they do not care what you do.
