Yep, we do have a strong disagreement. It is sad to see that the same groups who were once discriminated against in the name of past mainstream culture now embrace nowadays' mainstream culture to discriminate against others. It is also sad to see how easily we project our preferences onto others. This thread is full of generalizations and projections that have nothing to do with the actual diversity in the LGBTQ+ collective (I avoid speaking of "community") and a lot to do with many posters' primal need to reinforce their preferences by assigning them to an imaginary majority.
-
My apologies. The thread has ten pages, and I only read the last few posts.

Trans is the new gay. Sadly, many in the LGBTQ+ collective are now replicating the discriminatory mechanisms they once suffered. I wish we had a trans friend here to share their journey. I do not have many strong opinions around trans issues other than, on the one hand, the need to hear trans voices and question my prejudices and "common sense" to reference an earlier post. On the other hand, I also need to listen to the voices coming from TERF. As a cis, primarily homosexual male, I am listening to that conversation. Right now, I disagree with trans on one single issue. In my opinion, we should create two new sports categories for FTM and MTF trans athletes.

I did not mention trans.

Oh, you trust your common sense. Now I understand.

I like when you say "I believe". There is no argument against that. But I do have a problem when you say "the truth is we all know". We do not know. I think I understand your point, but I do not think you understand mine. If you think that gay men are recognizable from their manners (whatever we call them), how can you know you are right? Your premise is self-corroborating. You do not know whether or not you are right when you determine what their preferences are.
-
Did you consider that perhaps the issue is not that most gay men are feminine and fit a stereotype, but rather your own prejudices blind you from seeing masculine gay men? I do not know of any research about the manners among gay men. If there is one, please educate me. But I do not see how you know a masculine man is gay or straight.

I like guys with speech issues like sissing I like the gap in the front upper tooth that many Black people have (sometimes this makes me horny even with women) deep voices

I have mixed feelings. I think it was helpful to know who is who. Also, based on the time they spent there, the frequency of their posting, and the blatant bitterness, it looks like some poor lonely guys do not have another place to vent their grievances. Besides, I wonder how we will keep politics out of the conversations. The same homophobia and racism that a few posters bragged about, will show up when we discuss non-political issues. After all, (nonpartisan) politics is everywhere.

Even when I am socially challenged, I had a great time when I met other posters in this forum. I once enjoyed @Oliver's hospitality in Palm Springs and about three times met in DC with smaller groups of posters. I even traveled to Mexico DF, and Rio with friends from here. This is a popular forum representative of the broader humankind. I believe people are overwhelmingly good; the paranoid feelings many share about crime are unknown to me. Similarly, most posters here are good, reliable people.

They may be working out the glitches on the new upgrade. If they are following this thread, we may have alerted them of this one.

For the curious and with nothing else to do, in gayguides you can still find epic threads from those times.
-
I do not see that either. It would be great news!

For those who browse from their phones, remember that if you use your device horizontally instead of vertically you will see more tools on screen.

Feliz cumpleaños! (I couldn't find any appealing bisexual gifs)

Why are you all assuming he flies in a private jet?

Who chooses their sexual orientation?
+ José Soplanucas replied to pubic_assistance's topic in The Lounge
You keep trying to police your own thread without any intention to listen to what others are telling you. NO ONE has spoken of predetermined destiny, but about interacting biological and environmental conditioning. You are confronting your imaginary devout homosexuals who only exist in your fantasy world, and you are not listening to what the real posters are telling you. I am sorry the thread is not going in the direction you intended, but sometimes that happens when you open a thread. -

Oh! THIS is why you opened this thread! You falsely talked about your curiosity for others' personal journeys. However, now I see that you just wanted to share your grievances against devout homosexuals! You should have started there. -
Who chooses their sexual orientation?
+ José Soplanucas replied to pubic_assistance's topic in The Lounge
I do not see anyone here saying that sexual orientation is biologically determined. Instead, what I read is that our sexual preferences are biologically and environmentally conditioned. There is an array of biological conditions, gens one of them, and an array of environmental conditions, family and culture two of them), interacting, mutually influencing each others. Definitely, there is no choosing of our sexual preferences. We can choose how we will express them, or even not express them at all, but we do not choose our sexual orientation. Some people may be mistaking discovering for choosing. -
Do not worry, it is for the friends hunting in SE Asia.

Indeed, I smell desperation here. -
Gaybutton down was a hacking incident. The issues with Gayguide are maintenance. Recently, the owner renewed his commitment to keep the site up and purchased more space. I do not know what exactly is happening now, but in my experience the developers supporting the site are not talented.

Why not record your voice?
+ José Soplanucas replied to + StLouisOct's topic in Questions About Hiring
Hell yes. Since several years ago, I have stopped hiring without a videoconference. But a video presentation or a voice recording embedded to their escort profile would save me time. -

And it would be a very appreciated filter for me.
