It’s an interesting website. Has lots of info on gay related travel. In one page they list the 10 safest countries for gays to travel in and the 10 most dangerous. I was surprised to see Canada listed as number 1. Well maybe not totally surprised. But some European countries like the Netherlands or Denmark would have been ahead of Canada to my thinking. And France dropped off the top 10 list this year. The US was nowhere to be seen.

I was under the impression that the women in the recent case in New York had sought compensation for remaining quiet about their trysts with the defendant.

What used to be called blackmail is now referred to as hush money. Apparently, the latter is not illegal, as was often pointed out during the recent trial in New York.

Anyone recognize this type of rubber plant. I’ve had it for 10 years or so and it was mature when I bought it. It has an interesting shape with multiple branches. The little one beside it I planted from a shoot of the mother plant but it is just growing straight up. How do I get it to branch out like the mother plant?

This may be true today in the UK but I am old enough to remember the Profumo affair. That was every bit as salacious as what we heard in a New York court room over the last 5 weeks. For the youngsters here, you can google it but briefly a British cabinet minister lied in the House of Commons about an affair he was having with a high class call girl, as they were referred to in those days. The fallout was spectacular and the whole escort scene in London was revealed to the entire world. The girls had a procurer who was a society osteopath and he committed suicide. Profumo lost his career and turned to good works with the less fortunate. It was even speculated that a youthful good looking American president had dallied but nothing came to light. Plus ca change.

I read in the news reports that Florida is one state where felons are treated harshly. Moving from New York to Florida and establishing your residence there can backfire if you contemplate committing a felony somewhere in the country and happen to get convicted.

In the case of financial crimes, I imagine they would get audited every year by the IRS. Some felons are used to that however. Keeps their accountants and lawyers busy.

I have a different take on this subject than that expressed by most here. I lived and or worked for years in Europe and got used to “service compris”, or service included in restaurants with full service. This was added to the bill but not set out in a separate itemized price. Nowadays in Canada I find restaurants are using machines for payment that offer a few alternatives for tipping, like 18, 20 or 25 percent. I usually opt for 20 but if something was amiss, then 18. If the meal was presented in a superlative fashion I’ll go 25 percent. That’s rather rare.

I find that to be a dog in the manger attitude. The guy pledged something concrete and then delivered in spades. Even if other factors were at play to help him achieve his inflation goal, at least he didn’t do something stupid to result in failure to meet his promises.

I met Trev in September 2021 and he had only been advertising on RM for a couple of months. I was glad I got in on the ground floor as his career rocketed soon after. I’m an old gay man but nothing sad about me. I don’t have sunken eyes and I keep my figure trim by eating right and getting exercise into my weekly routine. I also have a life outside my gay world and am associated with several non gay causes that keep me busy contributing my talents and time. I keep in touch with my family members. I haven’t been in a gay bar in ages except for one visit to Campus in Montreal recently. I do go to restaurants which gays frequent but not exclusively. The world consists of all sorts of people and I try to expose myself to a wide variety to keep the proper perspective on what it means to be social.

I’ve never paid a provider by cheque (Canadian spelling) but keep my cheque book handy for large payments. I like to pay my income taxes with one, my municipal taxes and donations to charities when they are in the 4 figures. These latter get tax receipts in exchange. Years ago I used my cheques for many payments and every couple of years needed to get a new set of books. Now I expect my current cheques to last the rest of my life since so many payments are either automatically deducted from my bank account or I pay online.

I remember Darius Soli from way back. He gained some notoriety as a flame swallower earlier in his career. He’s been escorting for years and appearing in porn films. His ad says he’s 37 but he could be a little older. I agree some of his photos look heavily doctored.
