During this pandemic, people have been caught in places where they could not return to their own countries even though their countries would have permitted them entry If they could have arrived at the border. This loophole was not explained by the government here at the time so we all thought only essential workers could travel to the States. The problem is when you come back to Canada, as most would want to if they live here, is that on your return you have to self isolate for 14 days. And they are stepping up checking on people who return to ensure they are complying with the quarantine. There are hefty fines for not doing so but apparently not many have been handed down.
