I don‘t know the number you offered, but in his estimation it was low. Remember their rates are for time. If lunch takes an hour, he should be offered his going rate or something similar. I would have tried to salvage it by asking for a multi-hour playtime on Saturday or have the overnight and just pay him for the overnight and not the full quoted amount (which includes lunch) and be done with it. It was very unfair for him to change the morning departure without asking you first since he knew already that he promised/quoted his rate including lunch with you. Respectfully, i didn’t chose to live on LI. Everyone has a choice to where they want to live. My friends who live in LI also have a spare condo on the UWS so they stay there when it is a late night. I’m sure one can find willing escorts to travel to LI, provided the compensation is there.

Even to visit friends in LI is a chore. The LIRR isn’t really that bad, and the ride is only 50 minutes or so but seems psychologically far as the trains only return every hour during late evenings.
