  1. Maybe if you identify a provider you like, you can ask him as he might have a preferred venue that he knows of or can host..
  2. I heard deBlasio is planning to close restaurants (beyond the 10 pm closing). Haven't been to a restaurant in ages.... only takeout. Feel bad for those in that industry these days. Nothing really fun to do.
  3. A few years ago, i went on a private tour of the Hermitage with 20 classmates on a reunion cruise/trip. Wlonderful seeing those treasures up close and unrushed. Highly recommend to those who love art.
  4. Has anyone mentioned the Borghese villa? That is such a gem;)!
  5. Great history. Thanks for sharing. Lots of valuable chinese art picked up for pennies in the 1930s. Now those prices are out of reach. My friend's dad went with Nixon to china and picked up some lovely paintings and sculptures that were offered him by antique runners who would solicit foreigners for American dollars in exchange for their cultural relics. Wonder what they are worth now.
  6. Laurence Sickman was a big proponent for Chinese art in Kansas. Some of his antique pieces came up for sale a few years ago I believe.
  7. Is it the same as Jew vs Jewish? I always use the adjective rather than the noun as it seems a little more polite. I have many jewish friends and colleagues and they prefer to use the adjective. You'd think by now that I'd know the answer but i am not clear on this either.
  8. How does it compare to the pandemic lockdown???
  9. Polish cheese is good too... though I prefer manchego
  10. Deliveries are brought up by the doorman... Would love a hot UPS driver though
  11. I'm on my condo's board and i have to set a good example by not having gentleman callers over and wearing face mask in the common areas of the building. Shame carries a great deal of weight in decision making during risky conditions.
  12. I meant to say “once the pandemic is over, of course”.... lol. I‘m such a hermit these days and surviving on virtual sex...lol.
  13. would love to get on the mail list for the private orgies... i guess the polish organizer recruited hot polish hunks for the parties???
  14. Doesn’t facebook do this with people you may know? Sometimes they use the same phone number you have in your address book and identify the individual that way. I don’t think it‘s snooping, but I don’t think it‘s right either to call them by their civilian name unless they tell you to do so.
  15. This is a great thread and timely reminder for me to purge some clothes, books and magazines.
  16. You are moving to a new beautiful place. I would start afresh. I never kept any furniture when from my old place that I lived in when I was a resident. I moved when I was 35 so not that late, so i didn't have as many nice pieces at that time. Hired a decorator who took me shopping and had a blast buying nice new custom pieces as well as some antiques. Bought some exquisite huanghuali scholar furniture pieces and japanese screens that I adore. Threw out all the mismatched pots and pans as well as silverware. Went to Bloomingdales and bought a new set of everyday plates and silverware and ordered some handmade japanese plates made from a 13th generation potter outside Osaka I learned to let go of the old and spend money like crazy. Perhaps your new friend will take the lead and help you that way you two can have a project in building your new space together.

  18. Great idea. Toto or any toilet bidet is super useful to getting cleaner down there... but still need a little TP for inspection purposes..lol. But seriously, my TP consumption has dropped to 25% of what it was before using a bidet.
  19. I thought entry to US has been suspended with COVID... though he does have a nice ass to enter...
  20. As long as you speak $$$$ that‘s all that really matters.
  21. I love to but have bday dinner plans with my social bubble.
  22. I've quarantined in Toronto in June and it was random phone calls. My brother however, had no questions when he came back with his family to quarantine and did not have any phone calls. At least in Canada, they require your information for contact tracing. When I returned to new york city last month, there were no questions or anyone asking for contact info at the airports.
  23. Agree. Even restaurants don‘t book that far out!
  24. Binged it and loved it. Loved the portrayal of the soviet cold war era. I guess that is what Van Cliburn experienced too when he won the Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow.
  25. in your fun trip to nyc, did you hire anyone?
