I get it is frustrating, but it is a two way street. I have never flaked on a provider. There have been times I have needed to cancel or reschedule (not often though), but I go out of my way to be as considerate as possible by notifying early or providing options to reschedule. What I have seen is when those situations have come up, I have gotten either ignored or completely blocked even though I have presented alternate options. I have also been no-showed at least a half dozen times. Not in my local area, but when I have been in Vegas and LA. I also recently booked a meet with a rather famous provider in Vegas, he took my deposit (yes I know, don't make deposits) then completely canceled his Rentmen account which was the only means to communicate with him. With that said, the majority of my experiences have been positive and I have met some wonderful providers. I factor these situations in as a risk when you partake in a hobby like this and are dealing with many types of personalities.

I find its mixed depending on the provider. When I travel for work I like to try and book several weeks before so I have something thats close to a sure thing. This! I have had amazing times with guys totally out of my league and I abide by this motto. And don't let age scare you. I prefer younger (early to late 20s) and you might be surprised the excellent treatment you receive just showing them a little TLC!

This is so great, you basically have summarized all my struggles with communication in this hobby! I just never feel comfortable talking about this stuff with a provider. I guess I am lucky the strategy I posted earlier in this thread has been mainly successful for me even if it takes a session or two to ultimate get to where I would like to be. For me no matter what the conversation is, if the vibe isn't good it is a one time hire. I struggle with it too as I don't want to come off as a sleaze bag. I have had the most success developing rapport and setting the appointment without getting into specifics. I then tend to "test the waters" in a first meet to see whats Ok and have been lucky enough to forge a few really nice long term client-provider relationships.
