I've volunteered a few days a week for years in an area of town that's known to be the most dangerous......not scared at all....some of the nicest people....... go for it..... if it makes you feel better, do what I do occasionally: leave a note on the floor in the middle of your living room with all the pertinent details.....that way, when your friends and relatives come and knock down your door because you haven't answered anybody for days, they'll know where to find your body and who to arrest! but I'm sure you'll be fine......

you can ask him about his STD status, but that may be a silly (or insulting?) question.....some providers are entirely above board about their status (and may even show you their latest test results), but careful clients just need to take the standard precautions these days......
