Not quite @BOZO T CLOWN. The Gaiety WAS zoned out of business but not by the deplorable Disneyfication of Times Square. The Gaiety rented the second floor of a two story building at the northwest corner of 46th and Broadway. One of the last remaining Howard Johnson’s was on the first. The owner of the building refused to renew the Gaiety’s lease (and Howard Johnson’s too) enabling him (or her) to sell the property to a developer who built a much taller building on that small corner lot. I left NYC soon after and have no idea what’s there now. But I’ll always remember the wonderful nights I spent at the Gaiety.

I think I worked around the corner from there.

I just got off perhaps 4 months of prednisone. I was on massive doses - 200mg a day. It made me an insulin dependent diabetic and my facial hair became more stiff but I actually lost weight.

I’m a recovering (retired) banker. Many of my colleagues have, like me, needed to make career adjustments. For decades I’ve given out copies of What Color Is Your Parachute with instructions that they are to continue the process when they see it’s needed.

I’ve been in the hospital (often) lately. On a very hot day our car’s engine conked out as my partner was leaving the hospital. The car was towed to the dealer where he learned that the engine (insured) needed to be replaced but that it would take some time just to get the adjuster to inspect the damage. The service guy went out of his way to get us a loaner. A week later and now out of the hospital we went back to the dealer to “harvest” some items from the glove compartment and trunk of our car. The service guy was aghast when we handed him a Visa gift card. Propitious timing on our part as it turns out. We were back at the dealer this week for some paperwork and learned that our service guy was just back from his honeymoon. Doing good feels good! ps. It’s been over a month and the adjuster still hasn’t made it to our part of south Texas.

For the uninitiated, @Benjamin_Nicholas is rating Air Canada’s Signature Suite lounge at the Toronto airport. Unfortunately Air Canada doesn’t fly to Laredo TX.

Of course I’m of a certain age but I’ve had crew members take my carry on, accompany me to my seat and see that that carry on was stowed in the overhead. Not always but enough to make me want to continue the practice.

What ever class are I’m flying I always wear a sport coat or blazer and smile at the cabin crew who greet me as I board. It’s amazing how that improves service during the flight.
