  5. I admire the LGBTQ+ elders that were true to themselves despite the legal and social pressures that favored our heterosexual counterparts. Unfortunately, it will take decades before our community realizes the 80% of long-term care that is provided by family members in the United States. In the meantime, we must rely on friends as our chosen family.

    Dog Lovers!

George Graham Vest (December 6, 1830 – August 9, 1904) was best known during his lifetime for his "a man's best friend" closing arguments from the trial in which damages were sought for the killing of a dog named Old Drum on October 18, 1869: The best friend a man has in this world may turn against him and become his enemy. His son or daughter that he has reared with loving care may prove ungrateful. Those who are nearest and dearest to us, those whom we trust with our happiness and our good name, may become traitors to their faith. The money that a man has, he may lose. It flies away from him, perhaps when he needs it the most. A man's reputation may be sacrificed in a moment of ill-considered action. The people who are prone to fall on their knees to do us honor when success is with us may be the first to throw the stone of malice when failure settles its cloud upon our heads. The one absolutely unselfish friend that a man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him and the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous is his dog. A man's dog stands by him in prosperity and in poverty, in health and in sickness. He will sleep on the cold ground, where the wintry winds blow and the snow drives fiercely, if only he may be near his master's side. He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer, he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounters with the roughness of the world. He guards the sleep of his pauper master as if he were a prince. When all other friends desert, he remains. When riches take wings and reputation falls to pieces, he is as constant in his love as the sun in its journey through the heavens. If fortune drives the master forth an outcast in the world, friendless and homeless, the faithful dog asks no higher privilege than that of accompanying him to guard against danger, to fight against his enemies, and when the last scene of all comes, and death takes the master in its embrace and his body is laid away in the cold ground, no matter if all other friends pursue their way, there by his graveside will the noble dog be found, his head between his paws, his eyes sad but open in alert watchfulness, faithful and true even to death.
  7. I expect providers to respect my privacy and consider that part of their service. I was asked for a minimal deposit several years ago and understood that the provider was simply trying to gauge my sincerity as a new client. l declined but offered to meet in person for coffee before our scheduled meeting so that we could get to know each other. He agreed to schedule me with no public meeting and no deposit. It was a great experience and I continue to meet with him on a regular basis to this day.
  8. I'm on Doxy PEP after learning from my doctor that it significantly reduces the risk of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. SFAF explains that it reduces bacterial STIs by 66% at About Doxy PEP for prevention of STIs.

  10. Thank you for recommending AlejandroKingxxx. I'm trying to reach him but encountering obstacles using RentMen's message service and Alex does not provide other contact options.
  11. I just watched the delightful "Searching for Allies" episode that aired on March 31, 2023. Stewart's show strikes me as refreshingly authentic and avoids pandering to the audience.
  12. No, I don't always receive responses from providers. I generally don't try again if it was my first time contacting a prospective provider. I do follow up (e.g., one time) if the provider failed to confirm or is a no show for our meeting. I enjoy authentic and caring conversations by displaying patience and respect to others. I do not expect a provider to respond to me any quicker than I am obligated to respond to their text message.
