  1. I believe it's not only softening in Las Vegas, but every 'tourist' spot across America. I've heard DIsneyworld and Disneyland are offering incredible deals for their parks and hotels this summer trying to get tourists. I'm hearing tickets to B'way shows are not selling as expected with summer tourist season kicking off this week. They need to lower the prices on tickets if they wish to fill theaters. Where I'm from (RI) I'm hearing nothing but how tourism is WAY off for Newport, RI, Block Island, RI, and near by Cape Cod, MA and 'the islands' (Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket). Who would fill up the reservation books for our hotels and restuarants (and ferry service to the islands) by the end of March each year ? Canadian tourists - and that's not happening at all this summer. Not at all.
  2. On Kecia's Insta post last fall, where she accused 'fellow theater veteran' Lupone of “bullying,” “racially microaggressive,” and “rooted in privilege,” because she had labelled “a Black show loud.” “Oh, my God,” LuPone said, balking, when I brought up the incident. “Here’s the problem. She calls herself a veteran? Let’s find out how many Broadway shows Kecia Lewis has done, because she doesn’t know what the fuck she’s talking about.” She Googled. “She’s done seven. I’ve done thirty-one. Don’t call yourself a vet, bitch.” (The correct numbers are actually ten and twenty-eight, but who’s counting?) She explained, of the noise problem, “This is not unusual on Broadway. This happens all the time when walls are shared.” On fellow veteran Audra MacDonald, who is currently starring in the first revival of 'Gypsy' since Lupone did her revival more than 15 years ago. Audra backed up for Kecia's post. I mentioned that Audra McDonald—the Tony-decorated Broadway star—had given the video supportive emojis. “Exactly,” LuPone said. “And I thought, You should know better. That’s typical of Audra. She’s not a friend”—hard “D.” The two singers had some long-ago rift, LuPone said, but she didn’t want to elaborate. When I asked what she had thought of McDonald’s current production of “Gypsy,” she stared at me, in silence, for fifteen seconds. Then she turned to the window and sighed, “What a beautiful day.” https://archive.is/e7PTR
  3. He was always such a handsome guy. Even in his 80s he's still attractive. His now ex-hubby looks very much like the sexy actor Rome Flynn.
  4. Thanks - I just changed it today to cancel.
  5. As a non-expert, you nailed it. She's trying to relive her glory days from 30 years ago. Not happening.
  6. Then what is the difference of pausing or canceling your membership ? One must be more beneficial than the other.
  7. Do you cancel completely or put it on 'pause' ? Today, I put my membership on 'pause' (after I cleared out my payment options completely) rather than cancel completely. BY putting it on pause, I can restart my subscription sometime in the future and my info is saved - contact, shipping address / notes, orders from the past, 'wish list', etc. The pause takes effect on Tuesday - day my subscription was supposed to renew. If I cancel - and then want to subscribe in the future - I lose all that info and start from scratch.
  8. As the news was breaking that Jackson only sold 40% of a 5,000 seat venue (embarrassing any way you try to spin this), her team put out a statement that the casino has asked her to come back for the first week of September, and she said yes. Sure...let's see what illness hits her at that time and she's 'forced to cancel'. What's strange is that when 'residency' was first tossed around decades ago, a residency consisted of a performer performing for years at the same casino, every night. Such as Wayne Newton in LV, Siegfried and Roy, etc. If not years, months on end (usually around 9 months and took the summer off to tour). Sorry Janet, but 4 - 5 nights every few months does not make a Vegas residency. Back in the 50s - 90s, when 'summer concerts' were popular under 'the outdoor tent', acts were booked for five days and seven performances (two evening performances on Friday and Saturday). No one called it a 'residency'. They called it 'a week at the Tent'.
  9. My Prime membership is coming up for renewal on Tuesday, and after 10 years of having it, I'm seriously considering canceling it (at least for a while - if I miss it, I can always re-subscribe). The bottom line is: I don't use it all that much for shopping (just dog food) , or streaming (all the movies or TV shows I'm interested in are either for rent / buy). One of my friends said that if I wait long enough (about 3 months), I will start getting really good offers from Amazon to 'come back', like other subscriptions offer (gyms, cell phones, etc). Does anyone know if that's true or not ? What's been your experience ? Are the 'come back' offers good deals, or is it more like 5% off ?
  10. In related news, tourism for Las Vegas shows numbers falling this year from Jan 1 - March 31 as compared to 2024. For the month of March, tourism was down nearly 8% according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Hotel occupancy was down to 83% for the month as compared to 85% last March. 11. This was published this past Tuesday, May 20. According to other sites, sources at the Casino, ticket sales didn't get any better for the rest of the week, with the casino offering free tickets to 'high rollers' to fill the 5,000 seats each night. JANET Jackson is struggling to sell tickets to her Las Vegas residency, and about 60% of seats are still available for Wednesday night's premiere performance, The U.S. Sun can confirm. The iconic pop star and sister to the late Michael Jackson previously completed a sold-out, 10-day residency from December through January of this year at Resorts World. The Vegas hotel signed on to bring Janet, 59, back for shorter run in February that stretched over Valentine's Day, and then again this week from May 21 through May 31 with six shows. But with the big opening night just one day away, ticket sales on AXS show a majority of seats in the 5,000 person venue still available. The other dates do not look much more packed than the premiere. Prices range from just above $50 to $444 a seat, according to the ticketing site. Janet, 58, began her residency in December with an impressive two-hour show that showcased her extensive catalog of hits. She performed an incredible 43 songs, including Young Love, which she hadn’t sung live in over a decade. This residency follows her Together Again tour, which included 35 performances. 12. Looks like he travels and will be in my area soon. Checks off all my boxes except for height (he's 5' 5" - I prefer 5' 9" and taller). However, I'm willing to try him if reviews are good. He also says he's 'very hairy' but from the photos, the only hair he has is above his neck. Do they not understand what hairy means ??? It makes me wonder if he understands what kissing and BFE means - he has those listed, too. 15. Bottom line: Armstrong is going to walk out much more wealthier than when he walked in. He's in his early 30s - let's hope he employs a savvy money manager to help him invest.
  16. What is the reason tissues and tp are going up in price ?
  17. Geffen is worth $8.7 Billion. He's been legally retired for 15 years, so he has had 'no income' so to speak, except from investments - which, by California law, is not 'communal property' to be split up (so Geffen keeps all of it). Most likey, under CA law, he will get spousal support for one year (it's half the time of the marriage). After nearly two years of marriage, if Geffen was to give this aging 'go go boy' lust .05%, the boy walks away with nearly $44M. He will never have to sell his dick again. 18. Just about every talk show these days pretends to be a political analysis show - that's what's trending right now on television, and bringing in high ratings. And I have seen members of other shows (many copycats of 'The View') with abject ignorance giving their proposals on administrative appointments - such shows as 'The Five' and 'Outnumbered', both airing on FOX to high ratings. In the end, all these shows have the same premise: not to be a 'news show' but to be a show where the hosts with different backgrounds and lifestyles can share their opinions and views on what's in the headlines today. If anyone is looking for 'respectable journalism' from any of these shows, they'll be very disappointed.
  19. Camelot, as we know it, is now officially dead. Multi-billionaire David Geffen is back on the market, at the age of 82. Which means so is his husband of 23 months, former 'go-go dancer' Donovan Michaels (David Armstrong), 32. Geffen filed for divorce today, citing 'irreconcilable differences'. The couple married with no pre-nup, but California laws seem to be on Geffen's side. 20. "The View" is not a news show, nor are there any journalists associated with it. It's never been promoted as 'respectable journalism', so if that's what you're looking for, you've gone to the wrong show.
  21. Same with 'Phantom of the Opera' and 'Cats'.
  22. Actress Marlo Thomas, 87, made her first public appearance on Monday night - eight months after the death of her beloved husband and talk show host Phil Donahue, 88. The actress stepped out in New York City for Night at the Pier, Family Equality’s signature fundraising gala. Also in attendance was Debbie Harry and Demi Moore. Since his passing last August, Thomas has been reclusive and out of the public eye. She had stopped doing promotions for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, the renowned pediatric treatment center founded by her late father, Danny Thomas. 23. I remember seeing her work with this charity and learning about them through her documentary 'A Piece of Work'. I was so moved by this, that I decided to make this 'my charity' going forward (I have a charitable donation taken out of my check each pay period, and I've been donating to this charity ever since). One of my CCs has this as an 'option' for my 'rewards dollars' each quarter - so rather than get a refund on my CC statement, I donate my rewards dollars to 'my selected charity', and this is the one.
  24. I hope it's enough, because when Davis came out 12 years ago in his early 80s, everyone shrugged their shoulders and said, 'Who cares ?' It certainly didn't help him sell books or book appearances on talk shows, as no one was interested in him.
