The only way it might be a good idea is if you simply cannot buy the house you want with a 30-yr loan, or there are literally no houses in your desired city/neighborhood in your price range.  If and only if with the lower payments you can make an extra payment every month directly to paying off the principal, thereby paying off your mortgage years earlier and saving yourself a sh!t-ton of interest, does a 50-year mortgage make any sense.
But who the heck has the financial discipline to make that extra payment every month?  Almost nobody.

Both the 1985 film and the 1993 musical were financial successes, although it’s a bit apples & oranges in both cases.  The 1985 version was a small-budget indie production, and the demographics of Broadway audiences and mass-market movies differ greatly. Still, it’s worth noting that the 1985 film grossed $18 million ($54.3 million adjusted for inflation) whereas its 2025 counterpart has made less than $6 million so far.

Ever since I came out as a teenager, I’ve always been attracted to older guys.  When I was 20yo, I remember thinking if I had to choose between a hot 20yo and a hot 40yo, I’d probably pick the older guy every time.  As I got older, my age “limit” got older as well.  I started finding guys in their mid-40s attractive, then early 50s, late 50s, and then …
First, a bit of a tangent:  in the crowded lounge waiting for my flight to Buenos Aires, I was lucky to share a table with perhaps the handsomest man I’d ever seen, a 40-something Argentine who looked like a supermodel, except more rugged than model-pretty.  I saw quite a few more smokin’ hot daddies in Buenos Aires, and a stunning mid-50s guy in Iguazú.  Those working out in the hotel gym were on full display because instead of a wall, the gym was separated from the lobby by floor-to-ceiling glass.  Iguazú daddy wore the clingiest workout gear I’ve ever seen, but holy sh!t, did he have the body to pull it off.
In Madrid, I noticed a gorgeous guy in his 60s at the gym and thought, “OK, Argentina doesn’t have a monopoly on sexy daddies.”  Of course not, but my favorite gym daddy turned out to be an Argentine who decided to retire in Madrid.  Upon chatting him up, I found out he was 67!  He has the wrinkles to show for it yet is still handsome as hell.  With a body men half his age would envy, he wears sleeveless T’s and the skimpiest running shorts on the floor.  Better yet, he is one of the very few exhibitionists there and loves to strut around and flop his fat cock all around the locker room.  If he were an escort, I’d hire him in a nanosecond — just name your price, pal.
Maybe there is a psychological component to my attraction to older men, but I don’t think about it much, if at all.  I think it’s more that I rejected society’s assumption that (old) age and beauty are mutually exclusive.  In any case, it cracks me up that one of the things I’ll miss most about Madrid, and there is so damn much to love about the city, is a cock-flopping senior citizen.
