I've not heard of such a thing. May be she is just a nice, generous person. How valuable the gift she gave? A small token gift is a nice gesture and is typically within ethics codes (every company I've worked for set the limit at $25)

I've seen weekday afternoon discounts for years. Great way for a provider to attract clients who might otherwise only hire at nights and on weekends when demand is higher.

I donate and take the tax deduction. No haggling, no endless emails, and the guys at the Goodwill are kinda hot. PS: I’m not kidding about the guys working the donation door. They are the nicest, best-looking Goodwill employees ever. -

I look at "restrictive" ordinances this way: the ordinance would not be necessary if folks used common sense and didn't do stupid things like sending a lawn service crew out at 7:00 AM on a Sunday.

I'm in one of those roles in which my time is flexible. I typically work late into the evening, so if I arrive at the office at 9:00 no one is going to bat an eye. Of course, if someone schedules a 7:30 AM meeting, I am working at 7:30 AM.
