Driving home on a dark lonely highway, cool wind in my hair and the smell of the ocean rising up through the air that was me while listening to a similarly worded Hotel California by the Eagles. While in the song the driver spotted a shimmering light, I spotted nothing and then heard a lough thud which shook the car and saw a antler pass by the driver's side window. As it turned out, a deer running headlong from who knows what crashed into the side of my car. As I later learned the deer had no damage to its body but significant damage to its head and the police put it down. I had not stopped and when I arrived home I called the police. Contacting my insurance company to check my coverage what I thought would be only cosmetic damage they sent me to a local shop and the decision was made by All State to total the car. The car is 5 years old and only had 30000 miles and though it is an inexpensive car, Chevy Cruze, I have no desire to have the car totaled. It is still running perfectly but one headlamp is broken and unlike the deer, there is some body damage to the front bumper, fender and hood. Has anyone here had luck in getting an insurance company to fix rather than total a car? In the past, when this has happened, I was not worried about the car being totaled because in 3 cases the car was totaled and in the other the car was old and the offer was a fair one and in one the car was replaced by company which owned the other car which was involved. Yes this is the sixth car to which I have had this happen. One had a muffler from another car come through the windshield/ One had a tire fly off after having a flat fixed and the tire changed at a garage. In one I was bumped off the road by an intoxicated driver and drove up and then rolled down an embankment. In one, a driver deserted his car in the left hand lane of a major four lane highway without flashers or any notifying item and I crashed into the rear of the car as I pulled out from behind a semi to find the car there, That was the one in which the company that owned the car replaced my car. The more recent one resulted from my hood not being properly closed after having my oil checked while getting gas. As I pulled out onto the highway and got up to speed, the hood was blown open and smashed the windshield. Surprisingly, in all but one of the accidents I was not hurt. In the rollover, I suffered friction burns to my left arm and hand but was luck that I was tossed into the back seat and wedged between the front seat and the back seat as the roof and windshield crashed into the driver's seat. After some initial concern about the return of function of that hand, all turned out well there too. So, despite my experience with such matters, I would appreciate insight into how to persuade the insurance company to reevaluate the damages.

Local PBS station had the Birdcage last night. I had not seen it in quite some time and I found it a bit dated but still very funny. One thing struck me as odd. At the end of the movie. Gene Hackman is dressed in drag to escape past the waiting Paparazzi. The resemblance between Gene in drag and Queen Camilla is remarkable. Who knew. Several close ups starting at 1:45

MichaelVIP, another provider with a Private Jet!
+ purplekow replied to + glutes's topic in The Deli
I clearly commented on his profile and its content not on him, as did most others. However, when one chooses to have oneself represented by the gobbledy-gook which is his profile, it is not surprising that there is a run over effect. -

Would only hope he was not a English Composition major. His profile was so overdone, that if it were Thanksgiving dinner he would be tossing out the turkey from the silver platter and ordering in McDonald's on his platinum American Express. -
Apparently they have called for volunteers again to dig out the stadium for the Bills Chiefs game. When I lived in Buffalo three feet of snow in a week was not that unusual but the city seemed to always be prepared for it while down here in NJ three inches of snow calls for school closures and winter weather warnings. I guess it is all in what you get used to seeing.

NBA 'looking into' Josh Giddey over claims of sex with minor
+ purplekow replied to Ali Gator's topic in The Sports Desk
Theoretically, professional sex workers are not looking to get pregnant but even if some of them are, the percentage would likely be lower than the number of women looking for a steady paycheck for child support from a rich professional basketball player. Professional athletes, but it seem professional basketball players in particular have been known to have large number of children by a wide variety of women. Jason Kidd for example. 8 children with four different women. Six by wives and 2 from outside dalliances. -
Well that is much clearer. Thanks for unravelling my confusion at your initial post. By the way I said that write ins and third party voting should not be the goal of teaching about voting, not that it should not be part of the education.
-
If that was the intent of your statement, it was less than clear to me. Do not vote the way most people vote sounded as though you were suggesting write in and third party voting, which are fine if that is your desire, but should not, in my opinion, be the goal of encouraging people to vote. Perhaps teaching people to vote their conscious, or vote their best interest would have made your intent clearer to readers such as I. Clearly I agree with your statement that most black Americans do not vote, as I made the same statement in my post.
-
Most black Americans do not vote at all, so educating people in general and black youth specifically in view of this lack of participation, is a wise use of volunteer time. Explaining to them how to that their "vote counts best by not voting the way most people vote" is proselytizing not volunteering.

I know sports stars are not necessarily the sharpest tools in the shed, but the team ought to have some sort of program to teach these young men about avoiding these kinds of situations. Whether she said yes, no or please do it immediately or I will yell rape, these guys are setting themselves up for financial ruin and the end of a lucrative career. I would bet she told the truth but her silence now was bought and paid. It seems that the team ought to have a team procurer, the man with the connections to hot willing to be paid for young ladies, or men, of legal age, to keep their multimillion dollar investments happy on the silk sheets and off the scandal sheets. -
I was checking out an ad for a very handsome young man in LA who was 22 years old. He had a great physique and bilateral tattoo sleeves. I am not a big fan of tattoos though it really does depend on the level of the art work and theme. I am wondering at what age did the tattooed on this forum start getting them? How often do you add a new one? If you have stopped getting them, at what age did you stop? Have you had any tattoos removed. I have no tattoos and I am always surprised to see very young men, 18 or so, with them, though for some it is a rite of passage or an act of rebellion.

I would have responded to your original posting adding Eric Hassan to the list, but I could not locate it. There are some photos of Eric in which he is definitely classically handsome and others in which he is devilishly handsome. I must say he is more handsome in person and thanks for bringing him up, it has been way too long since I called him last.

So some people say though I believe the original expression was. The proof of the pudding is in the tasting. Unless of course you are cheating on a high school math test by putting the answers in your dessert. In that case the proof would be in the pudding and the quadratic equation is in the ice cream.

Too many to believe that you are any good at it. Each of these friends have had an emotional toll taken by the divorces and then they go and do it again and again and again. When they are dating people, they seem to suffer much less anguish when the natural ending for the relationship comes about.

Sean Knight. He of the magic left nipple. He would practically come from playing with the left nipple. The right one not so much. He left the business and was traveling as an assistant and trainer to several different professional tennis players. Great guy and seemingly doing very well after a short but illustrious career in our favorite profession.

I have two straight friends who are now working on marriage #4. Both, married early, college or right after, and divorced quickly, both under 2 years. They both then married for the long lasting duration, both around 11 years and both of them having their children doing these years. The third marriage came at a particularly stressful time in each of their lives and had some durability but both ended after 5 to 6 years. One of them, a woman, married again and seemed genuinely happy but her spouse is now developing dementia and I doubt, even if she is unhappy, that she will divorce him/. The other, a man, married the other day and notified the world on Facebook. The couple had been living together for about 2 years and though based on Facebook pictures they look happy, they have moved away and he has seemingly disappeared into a marriage in which he is her husband and not much else. So how many marriages are too many? Some here would probably say 1 is too many but I wonder if there are others that have a "if they want to get married let them get married" attiitude. It seems to me that both of the people have had a much harder time with divorce then they did with the end of a non marital irelationship. I have been married once. Widowed. Would never get married again, Does the sexual orientations of the couples matter?

MAL is an event which can only be understood in attending. No written word can quite describe the debauchery which one might encounter and or participate in doing. I attended about 5 of these Forum Mettups including the first one at Annies for Brunch. The weather was actually quite nice and the the fellowship was refreshing. The others I attended were always a fun weekend but the number of attendees waxed and waned. I was one that tried to Nate to get it off the ground again in 2022 without success. Some of us recall the most scandalous and controversial occurrence in all the forum meetings occurring during an early MAL meeting. Ah the drama. It had everything one could want in a scandal and there was a substantial hold over after the weekend was over. Do not contact me for details, because unlike other orifices of other people that weekend, my lips are sealed.

You might consider adding a link to your advertisement if you have one. That may spark some interest in a more privat meeting during the time you are in PS, unless it is a non working trip.

Ii no longer walk my dogs as I have my backyard fenced for them but when IO take thenm out for a stroll and they decide to pee, I try to have it be on pavement. I do not fuss with the dogs if they are walking on the lawn edge as the pavement may be too hot for their paws. I do not mind people walking on my lawn though I was taken aback when a parent with an ATV drove up to my door with his kids in a trailer in their Halloween custumes. I live on a corner and with no sidewalks so sometimes walking on the lawn edge is necessary to avoid car traffic. I would rather the footprints on the lawn rather than a blood trail.

Most of my bills are utilities and other large companies. When I eat at a restaurant I usually pay cash for the tip and use the card for meal. Businesses that rely on credit cards up their price to cover the 2 to 4 % that the credit care charges so it is really the cash payers who are subsidizing my appliances and I thank them for it.

This is generally an affluent group so it is not a surprise to have many people with no debt. I am also an Amex user with monthly full balance payments taken automatically. I use Amex to pay all my purchases and bills. I see no reason for automatic payments of utilities and the like when I can have them paid automatically through Amex and get the points. When I redid my kitchen, I got all of my appliance with points and racked up a bunch of new points with the purchase.

The death of the phone call as a method of communication
+ purplekow replied to samhexum's topic in The Lounge
I receive phone calls all the time as part of my job. What is annoying to me is that people call and then do not leave a message. They are usually calling from a number which is an extension and as a result the number reported on the phone is a main number. As a result, there is no way for me to return the call and I need to wait around for them to call again. I do not understand why leaving a brief message is such a chore. This is particularly annoying when the call has wakened me from sleep and now, in 5 to 10 minutes I will be awakened again.
