I still remember when this @RadioRob guy came out of absolutely nowhere in early 2021 and saved the day!.......hell, many of us were exchanging email addresses and phone numbers in anticipation of the entire website and forum disappearing during the uncertain days after "Daddy"'s death.....
the website needed a colossal comprehensive update by a willing and capable IT guy and RadioRob was evidently the man for the job.....
part of that update was a new domain name and, after a spirited round of discussion and voting, we now have COM..........
thanks to RadioRob and all the moderators for all their work.......

Hey guys! Finally reactivated my account on here- as we know, I don't logon this as much, as I transition to the half escorting / half real world job situation. Dad's in a full nursing home now...so my travel might be picking up slightly. In addition, Jetblue's partnership with American has been a godsend...have nothing but great things to say about that airline...
With that being said, I'll be out on the West Coast 4/16-4/20, with the intention of stopping by the pool party in PS 1PM-?PM on the 16th; but the rest of the schedule is contingent on a few variables. Will keep you all posted but I intend to at least show face out there, let Ace TAKE my ASS(😝) and catch up!
    Regards,
    Jordan

A more tax efficient manner to donate to a charity is the use of a qualified charitable distribution (QCD).  A retiree can donate all, or a portion, of their RMD directly to a charity.  The annual limit is $100K per account owner.  With a QCD, your IRA custodian sends a check directly to the charity.  A QCD does not provide a charitable deduction for the taxpayer but it also does not add taxable income to the retiree’s tax return.
If a retiree adds the RMD to taxable income and then writes a check to the charity for a tax deduction, there is a wash.  However, by using a QCD, the retiree does not include in taxable income the contribution (up to the annual $100K limit per account owner) and then the retiree may choose the standard deduction for a more tax efficient charitable donation strategy.
Additionally, a retiree who writes check to the charity for an itemize tax deduction is also limited to a federal tax deduction of 50% of AGI.
To illustrate the QCD strategy vs adding the RMD to taxable income and taking an itemize tax deduction, assume a retiree has $75,000 pension income and the RMD is $100K.

I’ve been subject to IRMAA (income related monthly adjustment amount) for several years now.  No big deal.  There are many people who would love to be in our shoes.

If you’d been smart you should have been doing incremental Roth conversions annually to lower your RMDs once you hit 73.

Some people don't want to be educated.  This appears to be one of those people.
We have decades of medical fact to base smart decisions on.  If you just 'feel' you're perfectly healthy without the bloodwork to back it up, I can't deal in that level of foolish.  Those people are the problem and frankly, the ones who continue to spread things like HIV and other STDs.  Always know your status.

I'm stunned, and so incredibly sad.  I haven't been coming to the forum very often lately, and when I did just now, I saw this devastating news. Wayne and I were looking forward to seeing @Epigonos here in Palm Springs next month.  It grieves me to no end that we won't be seeing him again.  But I'm honored that we got to know him for as long as we did.  He was one of a kind, and will definitely be missed.

Sad to hear today that the former president, who would be turning 99 this year, is now receiving comfort care.  According to reports he has decided to forego any further medical treatments other than those aimed at providing comfort, so that he can spend his final days at home with his family - including his wife of more than 76 years, Rosalyn, who herself is set to turn 96 later this year.  May he have comfort and peace over the days to come.

I feel compelled to channel our dearly missed friend, Epigonos, and to share his voice about the PS weekend. He would urge everyone to attend, make plans, and just do it. Don't assume you will be here next year. Don't assume the event will be held next year. We have this year and this opportunity. Epigonos might well say....."it's now or never!"
I look forward to meeting dear friends again, and making some new ones too. See y'all in PS.

Please mark your calendars for the Weekend – April 15, 16 and 17, 2023.  Specifics will not be posted here, in order to preserve confidentiality.  Therefore, if you are serious about attending this year’s events, please send an e-mail to me (if you know my address) or a “private message” with your return e-mail address so that I may send you the pertinent information as it unfolds.  Your confidential information will be respected, as I expect mine to be.
The first order of business will be Saturday dinner reservations at a local contemporary restaurant, followed by RSVP’s for the Sunday pool gathering at my temporary residence, followed by Monday morning reservations at a local popular breakfast restaurant.  You may prepay the dinner fee and the breakfast fee prior to the event via either PayPal or Venmo.
If you will be bringing a “guest”, please tell me who. That information will also be kept confidential, unless you say otherwise. Attendance by escorts (by themselves or as someone's guest) is greatly encouraged.

If you will be coming from out-of-town and need accommodations, you should arrange for those ASAP, if you have not already. There have been several suggestions put forth in previous threads concerning possible accommodations.

Again, the dinner will be early Saturday evening, April 15, the pool gathering will be in the afternoon of Sunday, April 16, and the breakfast will be Monday morning, April 17.

If you have any questions, please ask in your e-mail or message.  I look forward to renewing acquaintances and meeting new ones!  Come and enjoy!☺️
