Judging by its title this book on Nancy Reagan it sounds like hagiography not a serious biography. I think we should save our money. It would be better spent on a new book on Richard Nixon by Michael Dobbs “King Richard, Nixon and Watergate an American Tragedy.” Mr Dobbs was interviewed on Australian radio during the week. It sounds fascinating. I googled the reviews and they are universally excellent and the book is a major work of scholarship.

The title of the biography is The Triumph of Nancy Reagan. That title is an oxymoron, more moron than oxy.

I wonder if this biography makes reference to the fact she slept with a gun under her pillow and always consulted her astrologists before making an important decision.

What happened to Literature on Comedy and Tragedy?

That is very good. I always admire people who can come up with witty one liners off the top of their head. My all time political hero, former Australian Prime Minister, Gough Whitlam was a master of the art. Gough was a known agnostic and was asked by interviewer if he died and found himself in heaven face to face with God what would he say to Him? Gough’s response? “Nice to meet an equal.”
