Celebrating Maslenitsa

Belarus paratroopers pour water on themselves as they take part in 'Maslenitsa' celebrations in Minsk, March 5, 2006. Belarussians celebrate an ancient religious holiday 'Maslenitsa' (Pancake Week) ahead of the traditional Easter fast.

Another part of this celebration apparently involves mostly naked young men wrapping themselves around a long hard pole.
