It seems that traffic in the Ghetto (i.e. West Hollywood) was worse than usual this week. On Thursday night, I was on Santa Monica, La Cienega and Sunset at various times from 8-9PM and traffic sucked! Is is usually this bad or was related to all the Oscar shennanigans???

Well I think most of us here like to see "younguns"(not sure if you meant young'uns or young guns here-given your advaced age I would think youg'uns would be anyone under 60)runin(again did you mean running,or(again a guess)runnin'?)in the streets.

So much nicer than watching old fucks with canes and walkers shuffling around waiting to be slapped.

But I thank you for thinking of me :7

Yes. It's ALWAYS this bad.

>or was related to all

>the Oscar shennanigans???

Yes, there were MAJOR parties and shut downs all week. Shut down a quarter mile of east/west or north/west traffic and the entire city shuts down for a 10 mile radius.

I was told by my car company that if I wanted to get to the awards by 3:15 then I would have to have them pick me up in West Hollywood (about 10 blocks away) at 2 PM.

Soooooo excited :)

Why not walk, for Pete's sake--or are you just bragging about going to the Oscars and arriving by limo? Will you really enjoy sitting in your non-moving car watching pedestrians walk past you?

Depends on who's in the car with you. }(

Which of course leads to the question as to whom you would prefer to be stuck in a limo with! For me, Ryan Phillipe and Reese Witherspoon!

(Unicorn, if I were a young kid getting dressed up and riding in a limo to the Oscars, you bet I'd be bragging about it!)

Leave Reese at home. :p (Oh wait ... she's nominated. Damn! Can she get her own ride?)

I've already done the limo/red carpet thing with some of my favorite guys. We had Hooboy, Barry, Stef LaCoste, Adam(LV), Michael Brandon, and an assortment of other boys. It was a good time.

Well now that Ryan is back in shape and HOT -- no....I wouldn't mind being STUCK in the back of a car for 10 or so blocks :) But Reese would be great to chat with as with Ryan what has commonly been the experience with the super duper hot ones just like to lay there and let you do all the work because they think THEIR contribution to the sex is just being there :)

>(Unicorn, if I were a young kid getting dressed up and riding

>in a limo to the Oscars, you bet I'd be bragging about it!)

Backhanded compliment I will take gracefully. Thank you :) Fact is I toyed around with the idea of walking ... not in Tuxedo shoes and it just looks really tacky walking THAT far (yes in LA 10 real blocks is that far -- La Cienega to Highland). Then I toyed around with the option of driving myself but my car isn't worthy of pulling up to the Kodak in ... now if Bobby Thompson would have driven me I would have liked getting out of HIS car. Finally I thought about being really "special" and hopping on the BLACK Vespa and pulling up across the street but realized SOOOO much could go wrong with a Tuxedo driving on a Vespa between here and there and didn't want to risk it. That and all the drinking at the Governors ball would NOT have worked with that equation to get home.

Thus ... limo was the obvious classic choice. HOPEFULLY pictures to come but unfortunatley they have a pesky no camera rule this year (like "every" year to my knowledge) Meanwhile, it's the Academy Awards, Oscars are what they receive. I was yelled at about that by my host the first time and won't make the mistake again!

Everyone who watches enjoy the SHOW! I'll be in the first Mezzanine on the right side in the 11th row. :)

I'm sure that there are a number of people who wouldn't mind givin' lil' 'ol Scotty a backhand and making his nose bleed.... }(

RE: Oscar's Off Tonight

The show seems to be worse than the traffic, Dan. After two hours I am tempted to give up and read Little Women. I hope Scott's having a good time, but Jon Stewart clearly is not. His monologue was a real disappointment, and I am a huge fan. Some of the presenters have very lame lines, and that Meryl Streep/Lily Tomlin thing was just garbage.

But it's a great set!

Lucky,

I was thinking of starting a new thread on the Oscars. But, like you, I don't think it deserves it own thread (yet).

I read an article on Thursday or Friday where Jon Stewart promised he would behave. Didn't know he was going to check his humor and personality at the door. x(

I was really looking forward to the show tonight but it is much less than I expected and the actors/movies deserve.

RE: Oscar's Off Tonight

I have to agree. the ONLY interesting thread in the show is the choice of clips from classic movies and the statements THEY make. Chuck Workman has done another amazing job of putting together clips that trace they voice of Hollywood cinema.

The election results were kind of up and down to me. Seems to be some "closet" pressure even in this day. Heath on the red carpet went to great lengths to say the best thing about his "broke" experience was his current bed partner and their newborn child.

I have tremendous respect for Lauren Bacall, but, if you're going to wear a pantsuit and read the cue cards, then bring on the glasses.

Set was spectacular (when does Deco NOT work?) Jon disappoints and goes back to the Kathy Griffin list. I think his best comment was that the rap group showed what winning was supposed to look like. Even he saw that the crowd just didn't seem ready to celebrate the evening.

OK, what's next?

RE: Oscar's Off Tonight

Jon Stewart was just awful. He just about single-handedly ruined the show. This was an unusual year in which all five films were issue-oriented and not blockbusters. It called for a special host. Bring back Billy Crystal. I believe he would have slipped in some meaningful comments about the issues in his own humorous way. Thank goodness Ang Lee won Best Director. I believe he was the only person to make a positive direct reference to a gay relationship in Brokeback. I don't recall his exact words. If anyone remembers, please post it. I guess the Academy still isn't ready, as were the voters for the Golden Globes. IMO, tke best parts were, as usual, the montages of older films and the In Memoriam.

Oh Scotty, here is my one handed hand clap for you and your proclamation of Oscar attendance, past and present.

You can rest assured you aren't the only male escort who has made his way to the big red carpet on the big bright night. In fact I can say with little or no doubt your date didn't rank close to the arms I saw resident hooville escorts hanging off of last night.

Why I ran into a dashing Aaron Marcus of Las Vegas last night, this hunk does really clean up well. Sporting publisher Jann Wenner on his arm Marcus was outfitted in a well tailored black tux and a white button tuxedo shirt, complete with modern ruffles and no tie. However the best part of his appearance was the contrasting black and white winged tips which he so coolly pulled off. I smirked when I was introduced to him in the lobby of the Peninsula pre-awards, it was my first time running into an escort on the clock with another guy, and it was definitely a great pleasure but it wouldn't be the last of the night because drum roll please....

Seems to be that color is in the season with billionaires as my favorite escort by way of Washington dc snagged another one. This time in form of Barry Diller though I am sure he was ONLY a friendly date because the Velvet Mafia Don is happily married to fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg-but that’s another story. This Washington dc proclaimed cupbearer to the gods was sporting again a black fitted tux, black vest, long black tie on a white shirt, with what seemed to be a bouquet of flowers growing out of his suit pocket and (gasp!) cowboy boots! He's not even southern so NO EXCUSE. I thought I saw this chap on the actual red carpet next to Diller but wasn't quite sure until I ran into both again at the party in the green and blue building hosted by the gayest of gay players Mr.. John. It seems as though the arm candy of Diller wasn't at all in fact phased by his new found attention either he had no idea how power Barry is or he's been dating billionaires for so long that this was just another stroll in the park.

So Scotty not only you but also your brethren were out and about in tinsel town last night. I am sure they two were told by their car companies that they needed to be picked up an hour and a half prior to their arrival time so that they could too manage the traffic.

I just had an idea, Escort Spot Oscar Watch 07. I only ran into two but I have no doubt there are MANY MANY more. Any more sightings?

Instead of my typical bitchy catty response to a sad venomous reply like that I'll open with ... wow, I don’t care. I had an amazing time last night and I've grown up learning the best revenge (or reply) is living well. Just because you're apparently a bitter sad individual that can only make yourself feel better by ATTEMPTING to cut other people down is so very very sad.

Well being I was backstage with my “date” for MOST of the night .... ;) I'd be hard pressed to believe that one. But I never said my “date” was top dog but by all means he's in the competition for the blue ribbon.

>Why I ran into a dashing Aaron Marcus of Las Vegas last night,

If you meant Aaron Mark yes he is quite yummy. It's a shame I missed him last night. Seeing him in a tux would definitely get me all hot and bothered.

I went with an elegantly classic cut Boss tux. I'll see if I can get some pictures together.

Congrats, I guess it is the little pleasures in life that make people happy.

Luckily there was no traffic so I arrived with more than enough time to tour the back before attending the pre-awards cocktail party. (which I was told this morning by some self-important queen talking out his ass apparently never happened.)

The funniest reply I can have to add to this though... I am very happy for my colleagues that were invited as guests. My main point is though that I wasn't on the clock, I was an invited guest of the academy. I received printed invitations of my own etc. etc. Sorry if any of my previous posts came across as bragging but if anything from cultural diversity has taught us anything over the years, sounds like you're just a hater :)

::bitchslap::

Don't do the whole PDA/blackberry thing, not that you could even get a signal in the Kodak. I was surprised they didn't make an announcement about it then I realized that nobody needed to since you couldn't get a signal.

I guess next years red carpet interview question will be "Who are you Whoring tonight" ?

:) :)
