As if I weren't already unnerved by the risk involved in this hobby, this pops up in my news feed today! I realize this was a Backpages sting, but the article doesn't specify whether this was straight or gay prostitution involved. The picture used for the article looks like two guys to me, but I'm not sure that's relevant. Could be a generic stock photo?

My concern is....what's to prevent local police departments from placing ads on Rentmen, especially now that FOSTA/SESTA is law. I think my days of taking a chance on an unknown escort are over. I'm afraid to even communicate with someone now unless I have firsthand feedback from someone on this forum or a Daddy's Review to validate that the escort is legit. Even then...how worried should I/we be?

Just hire them for their time: discuss price for X hours of companionship. That is all.

Once you are in the room with them, do not re-discuss the price, or agree for more for a particular sex act, or anything like this. Just let it happen.

Pay before leaving, as agreed, for the good companionship time.

As far as you are concerned you hired for companionship, and then the guys started undressing and touching you. It is not your doing that sex happened!

Think about it: if ever some policemen start kissing clients, in order to catch them having sex against money, then it is entrapment which is illegal for the police to do in every state (some lawyer will have to back me up on this one).

I agree with Tarte Gogo. You are paying them for their companionship. Anything that happens between two consenting adults is something different and their business. Let them make the first move. And you're right to get recommendations from this site.

Although I'm not quite that unnerved, I recognize that the recent flurry of activity has heightened my awareness.

Just returning from running an errand. There was police activity at a local "spa" 0.5 mile from me as I drove by. And I thought "there's more evidence, they're cracking down on the spas/massage parlors." And then, 30-seconds later realized.... wait, I have no idea why the police are there.... and even if they're busting illegal masseuse behavior, it has nothing to do with the intent of FOSTA. I'm responding irrationally.

Lesson: time not to overreact, or jump to conclusions.

so my favorite massage therapist who used to work out of his apartment starts telling me he's working out of a spa. I went and had a massage. But the whole time I'm thinking the police are going to barge in and I'm calling that one friend we hopefully all have to bail me out.

I don't want to lose the guy (he's really good), but there's that risk.
