On 46th Street, the same street as the Gaiety Theater, McHale's Restaurant, once known as the Gaiety Cafe, has closed it's doors. Since 1953, serving the best burgers in NY is about to fall from the developer's ball.

The Gaiety, HoJo's and now this... very sad!

McHale's was also the site where Kevin Bacon met his death in the movie, Sleepers, still one of my all-time favorite movies and choc-full of cute guys. I finally did eat there and alas, no one shot me, nor did I see any cute guys!

I was about to rent the movie Sleepers from Netflix based on you enthusiastic recommendation, but I changed my mind after reading this excerpt from the capsule summary:

In this drama based on characters in Lorenzo Carcaterra's controversial book, four boys from Hell's Kitchen enter a reformatory where a cruel guard (Kevin Bacon) abuses them.

I just can't stand to see cute guys tormented.

...Hoover
