What makes a “Good” Review?

It’s been mentioned before, and endlessly debated I am sure, but after taking a look at the reviews posted in recent weeks I would like to pose this question. What makes a good review?

IMHO three sentences is not a review, it’s a blurb on a book jacket. The “<escort name here> fucked / sucked me real good” just does not cut it for me. Then again there may be those who don’t like the blow by blow (pun intended) descriptions of some of the longer reviews.

So what of it guys--- what do you look for in a review and do the longer or shorter ones prompt you to consider hiring someone?

Oh puuleeezzzeee! Stop acting all offended! How many posts a responder to your "tired, repetitive thread" has, has absolutely nothing to do with the repetitive nature of your post.

You can safely ignore VaHawk. He never adds anything constructive to a conversation and looks for ways to basically poop in people's cornflakes.

Most of us ignore him. Most of the time.

While the hissy-fit brigade wastes bandwidth below on irrelevant spats having nothing to do with the question, I'll take a crack at it:

For me, a review is helpful if it conveys some idea of the escort's personality, ease of communication, punctuality, hygiene, and attitude towards a client. I want to know if an escort thinks nothing of taking cell-phone calls during an appointment, rushes the client out the door as soon as he cums, and treats the whole thing like a prosaic business transaction as opposed to an occasion for two guys to connect physically and emotionally. (In other words, can he act???) :-)

LMFAO!!! You, as a former moderator who LOVED to piss in everyone's breakfast cornflakes, who disagreed with your "holier than thou" opionions, really push the envelope of reason with this statement! I can't speak for anyone else, but I KNOW that I totally ignore anything that comes out of your sewer mouth that isn't about sports!

Likewise. Must be Hell to look like Clarabell, but still can't "quite" cut it as a clown! :p

A review last week of Jimmy in Amsterdam is a perfect example of a review that tells you absolutely nothing. This was a first-time review of this escort. I thank the reviewer for introducing people to this escort, but unfortunately the review gave no indication of what this escort does in bed, types of activities, physical appearance, etc. So many reviewers skip over the sex part -- but IMHO that's one of the biggest reasons to do or read a review -- it helps other potential clients in finding out if a particular escort is first of all responsible and if he can perform or offer the types of sexual and other escort services you want. Some may paint it as being lurid or unnecessary, but to me it's all in the details -- and we need to know.

Formerly in Orlando -- now Amsterdam.

I agree with all the points you make - a vivid depiction of the actual sexual encounter provides lots of relevant information for anyone who's shopping, and also helps to make this an exciting site to which people will return just to read hot descriptions of sexual encounters. That has its own value, since the greater and wider the readership, the more incentive for people to post reviews and the more incentive for escorts to keep their listings up to date with new pictures and contact information. After all, making this site maximally effective for those who patronize escorts and for those who offer their escorting services seems to be the main point behind the enterprise, and it works better with more, and more active, participation.

To me a good review should include what the 'scort looked like, what the actual rate paid for the time spent was, what limits(if any)the 'scort placed on the encounter, the 'scorts general demeanor, how interactive-active was the 'scort, some mention of the type of activity engaged in-without being to delicate about it,and the general satisfaction level of the client with that particula 'scort.

Also general comments about hygine and truth in adverting issues are good to include.

Lots of good responses focussing on how the escort is described, so let me take a different tack.

For many, the reviewer's self-description is also very important. And not just the few "You" lines at the end, but also in the narrative. Knowing that the reviewer is quite experienced with specific desires, or that he is relatively inexperienced and how the escort dealt with that, is useful. So is knowing how well the reviewer communicated his desires and how the escort responded.

I agree that the question of what makes a "good" review deserves a straight forward answer. You have provided it. And I agree with the elements of a such a "good" review that you described. Frankly, we all may benefit from better reviews if this question is re-posed and re-answered from time to time.

bigguy... Definitely ALL you mentioned is important.

I am sure that some things being great and others not so great, some guys tend to ACCENTUATE the "Positive" and forget about Sometimes mentioning their opinion of the "Negative".

Of course my last Review didn't do that, Got a Response, whether truthful or not. BUT the point is, mention ALL of YOUR Experience..People change, a guy's M.O. can also change!

None of us are talking about $25 for a B/J anymore..These are very Pricey Experiences, we are all talking about...:+

I agree totally with newatthis regarding the self description of the reviewer. I rely on this section as much as I do on the escort review. I, for one, what to know how the escorts responds to clients of various ages (my personal concern), sizes, and ethnicities.

As to the escort review I want to know exactly and graphically what the escort does and how good he is at it. Reviews that simply state "nice guy, prompt, looks like his photographs and the sexual experience we shared is between us" are a WASTE OF MY TIME.

I have been waiting to post on this thread until my very positive review of Jason Carter of Dallas / Ft. Worth was posted on "Newest Reviews" (See postings on 11-23-05.). I write what I think are explicit and detailed reviews and this one is no exception. I include accurate scenes that I find erotic and find it useful to read similar reviews on other escorts. It is the combination of repeated explicit reviews, nice / intelligent guy comments by reviewers, hot photos of the escort and reviews by men of my age bracket that attract me to future and wished-for escort engagements. On the Jason Carter review, I asked Jason if he would be offended by an explicit review and he said "no" and he hoped that the review, if submitted, would be positive. If he had said that he preferred non-explicit reviews, I would have complied because I want to enjoy his company again at some future date. My questions are: 1) Am I too explicit? 2) Does anyone find this review helpful (or for that matter a turn off) for a future consideration with this escort? 3) Do I touch a chord of eroticism in anyone else?

KentuckyBoy....We are very much alike. I appreciate your contributions to this site. Keep up the good work. Considering the many scant, almost useless reviews that are being submitted, your "research" and reporting are much needed around here. To answer your questions, (1) your reviews are not too explicit, and I like all the facts. (2) Your review is helpful to me, especially since Jason is at the top of my list when I get to Big D. (3) Oh yeah! }(

Thanks jawjateck and epigonus for your kind words. I am going to check out your reviews. I was debating whether or not I should take the time and effort to write a review on Jay Ganymede in Washington DC (Suffice to say for now, I highly recommend this stud.) For me it takes me quite some time to capture the erotic moments in words. However, you have persuaded me to write a review about my sizzlingly hot session with Jay earlier this month. Flattery always seems to work on me! Best to you for the holidays!

Hey Kentuckyboy not only do you write the kind of review I value, you have great taste in escorts. About a year ago I had Jay over to my place in Southern California for dinner After dinner we spent two great hours getting to know each others bodies. He has one hot body and one great mind to go with it. If you get a chanch check out the review I wrote.
