I'm familiar with VPN as a means to sign into a network remotely. Had it on my laptop to access employer's corporate network.

But I'm also seeing ads that VPN is a means to maintain confidentiality when online? How does that work? Is it same thing? Or are third parties selling/providing access to their private networks, and its really not confidential, but just not visible to ISP, or trackable?

I thought this initially read VPL suggestions. Simply wear thin material and let your thing protrude!

I'm glad I wasn't the only one!

I use "Private Internet Access" aka PIA.

I was impressed when they were served with a subpoena to reveal information

on one of their users and they replied that all data was encrypted start to finish.

And that they stored no data, and had no means of unencrypting the traffic

that went through their servers.

As an added bonus it's easy to use and works fairly well.....but nothing is foolproof.
