A masseurs on one of the sites asked if I had a photo to share. He didn't ask as if it were a requirement, but before I responded I thought I put it out there and ask for feedback. Anyone?

I've hired many masseurs over the years, but have never been asked for a photo. I can't think of a valid reason for requiring one; does he want to know my race, age, etc? If I were asked for a photo, I'd look for another masseur.

I'd welcome a post here from anyone who can explain why this would be a valid request.

Whenever I'm asked for a pic...I politely refuse....but offer to meet in a neutral space.

I am my stated age and look like my self described description....so I've got nothing to hide.

Which is more than I can say for several of my hires over the years.....

I explain that if after we meet...either one of use desides to cancel....then there are no hard feelings either way.

So far, I've only gotten one of two responses.....

Either they disappear and are never heard from again....and so I assume they were flakes to begin with....

Or they decline the neutral territory offer and just show up at my room.

To date, no one has ever chosen the "neutral turf" option.

Had he already asked your stats? If so, a possibly benign reason would be a safety issue. I know it's their job, but I would be very uncomfortable opening or knocking on a door and having to say, "John?" I'd really appreciate knowing that I have the right person just by looking.

If he isn't requiring a picture it doesn't sound like he's screening for something.

I can understand a masseur wanting physical info.... even more justified than SOME escort situations. Maybe he is concerned about his technique and your body type. Or table compatibility.

But a picture of a face that will be face-down for 80-90% of the session... whats the point?

I think it is rather obvious why they ask for a photo. One reason: they want to check you out to see if you pass their "beauty contest" If you are decent and/or attractive they will go forward with booking the session with you. If you are not attractive they will not reply to your massage request. I think a great idea if you are ever asked for a photo.....find a photo online of a REALLY overweight, unattractive guy and send it. If he does reply and books your session....then you know he is a good guy. If he ignores you, then you know the REAL reason he wants a photo.

No, he hadn't. Reading the comments, I think offering them and an honest description is a good idea, but refuse on the photo. If it's not going to work, I'd think better to know before time and money is wasted.

Agree with the responses here. I've only had one request for a physical description and it wasto verify weight for a table. That was weird because I have my own table and it easily holds two people when and if that becomes necessary. Other than that I've hired many masseurs of all types over the years and never asked for a photo.

Oddly enough, just last weekend I was asked to send a photo of myself. This was for a first-time massage with a guy who'd only recently begun to advertise in my area. (Previously, his clients had found him by word of mouth.) His reason was that he was inviting me into his home and wanted to verify my identity. It didn't occur to me that he might actually be "checking me out."

I've been asked a number of times but all of these situations were through Craigslist posts. Depending on how they asked and the reason for requesting, I have responded a few times with pics. I think "I am inviting you into home..." is a reasonable request.
