I don't understand the difference between rent.men and rentmen.com anyway. My browser usually gives me the chance to choose either one. I apologise if there is a thread explaining this. I must have missed it. Anyone care to explain, or direct me to an explanation?

This is the closest thread I could find related to this but I saw something for the first time today.

I submitted a 5-star, recommended review for someone as I frequently do; there was nothing unusual about it. Normally these sail thru in less than a day.

I just received this email:

Hello,

We have received your review of “<name>”. We very much would like to approve it. However, we do not see any communication between you and the escort.

How did you contact him and arrange this meeting?

Keep in mind that we only accept reviews when the communication is established via Rentmen.eu.

Regards,

Juan

I responded that I had texted him at the number listed in his profile as he says he prefers text contact.

Has anyone ever seen this before? It raises a few questions in my mind.

  • This means that RM monitors communications between clients and escorts.
  • Do they monitor the content?
  • Do they only monitor when there is a review submitted? Or are casual comms monitored?
  • If this had been a negative review would there have been some sort arbitration based on email content?
  • What’s the purpose on the “only accept reviews when comm established via RM” policy? It feels like an attempt to promote the RM site as more than a simple listing service. If the escort has paid for a profile he seemingly is also buying the privilege of receiving reviews there; If this is the policy then that privilege has a constraint wrapped around it.
  • If he had a personal web site and I had contacted him via it then presumably my review is not publishable on the paid RM profile?
  • I think the most optimistic interpretation is that RM is trying to get its arms wrapped around fake reviews. This would be a good thing.

I have never received that, and I did sent reviews about escorts I contacted as you did, without using their messaging system.

You are in The Cabana. You should not be surprised, we know Rentmen monitored communications between escorts and clients, and at least between escorts and escorts, we do not know if they also do it with client to client communications, but it is reasonable to assume they do. We know they have blocked certain escort to communicate with other escorts.

We know they monitor the content of the communications, we know they did it before.

Those are facts to answer your first two questions. I cannot respond to your other questions with facts, just guessing.

This followed after I asked:

Hello,

Your review was not rejected. It has been approved.

We are trying hard to make sure reviews are legitimate and we now want to

ensure that only reviews where communication with the advertiser has been

established through RentMen.

Thank you for your continued patronage.

I suppose that there's a couple of ways to interpret this.

"make sure reviews are legitimate" could mean "eliminate fake or shill reviews" or it could mean "suppress negative reviews if deemed to be unfair".

Either way, I don't understand correlating the legitimacy of a review to the initiating of communication via the RM email system. What difference does it make HOW you met; WHAT happened when you met is the basis of the review.

This feels to me like a way for RM to discourage clients & escorts meeting outside their sphere of influence (i.e., another listing service, an escort's personal web site, etc). But, so long as the escort is paying for a monthly profile, the logic of this eludes me. You can't be reviewed if you don't have a paid profile.
