It's very easy to say well than they should buy an ad if they want to escort maybe they are just testing the waters so to speak. Lets not forget the Rentmen escort has to pay for the ad upfront. IDK what the rates are but I'm sure its not that cheap. You don't have to change your opinion but you could show some empathy and at least consider cutting the guy a break who is being honest upfront. You don't know what kind of situation they are in, financially, emotionally, etc.

that's a good point!

I met a Portuguese escort who started working in the restrooms of Fatima, in my 1992 Spartacus Gay Guide is was advertised as popular place for free sex without the A.Y.O.R. sign that many other places like parks had.

I'm sorry your thread was hijacked, after all you referred to RentMen.com and other legitimate escort websites where guys pay for the ad and are clearly identified in case something goes wrong.

It's ok. Thanks for saying so, but I'm good.

It was an interesting... um... sidebar?... and if we here got our knickers twisted every time a thread wandered (or rocketed) off in an unexpected direction....

And I got a lot of feedback on my question, so no harm done.

Peace out y'all. ❤️

Here is my 2 cents for what its worth. I think there are 2 scenarios that can be at play here. If the GRINDR, CL (et.al) profile/ad has "generous" in the copy, you know going in what they are expecting. Maybe the dude doesn't have the money to pay for an ad but will as soon as he gets some clients in. I think the problem arises when someday has just a normal profile, you start to chat and invest some time thinking you have a connection only to be asked at the end are you generous. Don't snitch the guy who is at least being honest & upfront about his intentions. If you want to snitch the guy who is kind of catfishing you I say go for it

Good perspective, I like that distinction btw up front and stick it to you later....

Marylander and Mocha forming an unlikely alliance.

Thread can't get better, admins please close.

I beg your pardon? Actually booboo kitty I was on your side in this thread, and the way you voiced your opinion on the matter. I simply said that if someone had outright contacted such and such then that's a different story. Adam4Adam holds that same policy, which is why I'm writing in Orange print.

There's no alliances being formed, as I don't agree with someone reporting an escort ad. If we're going to come together and make this thing "agreeably legal" it needs to start from the community. Starting from the community means not reporting such things as a nuisance to society. Letting people freely express themselves and work in peace, not fear and shame.

And as far as I know you don't have legal rights to close someone else's thread. So FUCK it

It was just a joke, sorry I didn't use a winky emoji or something to make it more clear.

When I see "generous" in an RM ad (and usually I see it more in the "thug" type ads), I assume it means "above and beyond my quoted rate since you know I expect to be paid by quoting a rate". So I usually avoid. Perhaps I have been wrong all these years.

Yes, you have. :(

Not only those would not be above average, you could probably get a lower price.

I joined a few months ago. Guess I'm supposed to show more deference to the seasoned veterans on here.

Sometimes "seasoned veteran" equals "cranky old man." Too much of a "get off my lawn" vibe when you voluntarily police Grindr.

Spot on!

In which post(s) does the OP refer to Rentmen.com?

Posted
The OP talks about escorts ad, right?

RentMen is an escort's site, right?

do you follow now...

You state: "I'm sorry your thread was hijacked, after all you referred to RentMen.com and other legitimate escort websites where guys pay for the ad and are clearly identified in case something goes wrong."

He doesn't mention Rentmen.com, nor does he mention anything about sites where guys pay for the ad.

You need to check the words implicit/implied on a dictionary.

Do you find anything in the original post that couldn't apply to sites such as Craigslist or Backpage?

as yinz know... I don't shop there...

you still haven't checked the meaning of implied/implicit... May I suggest also common sense?

Since you're not familiar with either Craigslist or Backpage, I can help educate you. There is nothing in the original post that couldn't apply to either of those sites.

I won't reply anymore to you....

yes, telling him to pay for an ad on RM or BP.

Is that such a bad thing to do?

Will yinz call the cops on me or just shoot me in an alley?

Sorry guys!

Funny!

It appears your tigger-finger is on "REPORT!"

you making a joke!

Damn, that's progress!

As the one who diagnosed one of my posts as failing to understand another poster's sarcasm, I learned I needed to tell you when I was posting humorously just so you could be sure.
