Anyone in SF ever experienced Pan?

https://rentmasseur.com/pan

I've seen his ads, pictures, reviews for years.

I called once, years ago, and he declined based on HWP issues.

Now that I'm considering again, I called him last week, asked about availability and the HWP issue, and he said its not an issue.

His pictures work for me. And yet, he's been around for so long, I'm just wondering if they're accurate... wondering if reviews and descriptions of his technique from 10 years ago still apply today.

I've also been curious about Pan, but a lot of the photos on the rentmasseur.com page I've never seen.

Glad to know he's worked thru the HWP stuff. Not that I need to worry so much, but its a major turn off whenever I learn about a masseur who is discriminatory (in any manner).

I think I'll take the Pan plunge next time he travels.

Pan has been around for a while. He is a very sweet guy and is an excellent, experienced masseur. He used to do quite a bit of traveling, and I was a regular client of his when he visited NYC over the course of several years. He stopped that years ago. He is older than his ad states, probably by ten years or more. Was in San Francisco on business about a year ago and went and saw him. Still gives a great massage. Is interactive at the end but has his limits. I would say that the pics on his ad are a bit out of date--at least as of a year ago he's not as big or as cut/ripped as in the pics.

Yes I use to see him whenever he came down to LA. Until he made comments to me about me having a heart attack. Which I guess was his not to subtle way of saying I was overweight. That being said if you are not carrying an extra 30-50 lbs he is great.

Saw him this last February with a recommendation from a forum member. As for age, he looked fine to me. Early 30s?? Body was in great shape. Very quiet, almost shy. Tried to chat him up after and it seemed a bit of a struggle, so I stopped. Massage itself was very good and relaxing. Futon on the floor. He left a couple times for a minute during. Ending was entirely satisfying and adequate for me. He got naked at the end and discouraged touching before the end.

I'd go see him again next visit.

ajac's comments reflect my initial concerns. As I wrote in my initial post, Pan declined an appt with me years ago, based on HWP factors. I asked Pan last week, and he said working on big men is "no problem"

I could speculate.... but my intuition tells me he wouldn't be enthusiastic in service.

Soo.. his prior decline, the heart attack comments, and the hassle factor of driving & parking in SF .. I've decided to pass on Pan.

Wow...@ajac. How did that even come up in conversation, or did he say it out of the blue?

Maybe I should remove him from the wish list...

Very Out of the blue. I had seen him many times before and always looked forward to seeing him whenever he was in LA. I never had any indication prior to that that he had weight issues. Now I admit I was carrying more weight at the time than I should have but I am not Jabba the Hut need to buy two seats on an airplane big. His body is amazing his massage is very good but I think even if I were to reach my goal weight I doubt I would see him again. I want to get a massage to feel relaxed not bad about my self or stressed about my health. I did send him an email calling him out on the comment. If he does have an issue with HWP it should be noted in his ad not in the last 10 minutes of the massage.

(On a good note it did get me to my yearly physical)

Very good information for me. I have an Asian affinity, and I was planning to engage Pan when he next visited NYC. You helped me dodge another bullet.

I have seen him 3 times and I am overweight. I never got that vibe from him nor ever discussed. My negative on him was the he is a little robotic during the session and does not show much personality but after massage was more engaging. I fork that over to while do his work he prefers to stick to his routine. I did see him 3 times so obviously I enjoyed it.

Reading thru this thread it is obvious to me that Pan has issues with out of shape guys, or this subject would never have even come up. (HWP stands for Height Weight Proportionate) I find it distasteful that a masseur would judge a client based on any criteria, such as appearance, weight, race, etc. It is ironic that Pan is Asian yet seems to judge others on their body type. I am sure he would be pissed if someone gave him some shade during the massage session if a client commented about his race in a negative tone. @Ajac, I have your back on this one. We go for a massage to relax, not to be judged on our appearance. This is not a beauty contest, it is a massage session. We all need to be treated by our masseurs with respect. Ironically, I work out and am a gym rat, have no body fat, and am in better shape than Pan. But after reading this post I will now avoid him. I don't like his mentality. The gay community gets mistreated enough by the straight community. When we get mistreated by our own that is where I draw the line.

I'm putting up a GoFundMe page.

I'll go see Pan, investigate for the team. If he's unbiased about my size, and its an excellent experience, I'll refund the money. If I confirm that he's a discriminatory creep, this community will have invested in a reliable fact-finding mission. Either way, I'll report back.

DAMN! I just discovered my post retirement, second career. Secret Shopper for the escorts & masseurs' clients' community!

Hi @MikeBiDude, I put the HWP info in there since I had to Google it. I had no idea what it meant so thought others might not know either. What I was implying by my comment that "it is ironic Pan is Asian, yet seems to judge others on their body type" is that discrimination can take many forms. I have heard from my friends that are Asian, that when they call for a massage session, due to their accent, the masseur will ask the client if they are Asian. If they say yes they are Asian, some masseurs will turn the Asian clients away due to their ethnicity. I think that sucks. So I found it ironic that now an Asian masseur was turning away clients due to their body weight. Wow, everything seems to be coming full circle. Discrimination in any form sucks, just wish we could all get along, and accept each other for who we are, any race, skinny or fat, young or old :(

Yes for years I had seen him with no incident always polite and enjoyable which made his comment that much more disconcerting. I was actually kind of glad reading on the forum that it wasn't just me.

For him to have vocalized his remark was wrong but is it really that uncommon for masseurs and escorts to have a preference, granted they will never say anything or refuse to work a certain body type. Pan is not raised in American culture he is Thai and probably came here in his 20's. I know Asian culture and to call someone fat really is not that uncommon, I remember cousins saying to me I got fatter.

For American culture mentioning that is taboo but I don't think so much so in Asian culture.

Just my thoughts. I would not necessarily hold it against him. At least for me that did not show in his work to me.

Actually I would rather someone tell me they prefer not to work on HWP than to just go with it to make the buck. After all, I prefer to hunky guy to work on me and if Asian that is a bonus is it wrong for a masseur to have a preference?

I would prefer to know in advance too. That's why I asked.

I started the thread, shared the info...to try to confirm his preferences, and to get the info out there (if accurate) so that others can make informed decisions.

Not trying to get people to hate on the guy.

If someone wants to chat or start a thread about others' values, and obesity as one of the last sanctioned bigotries, I'm open to that.... just not in this particular thread.

Yes that is why I stressed how I enjoyed all my past experiences with Pan. I think had he just said you are fat I could have dealt with it better than the heart attack thing. I am sure it is cultural. That being said I honestly wish him the best in the future and recommend him to anyone where weight is not an issue. That is why this forum is a valuable tool to find the right fit for everyone.

I don't accept that it's just cultural.

Ive been much bigger than current, and much less. The public reaction, the job market, certainly anything interpersonal... all are affected.

I never knew clients could set up profiles on RM, until I rejoined this scene 2 weeks ago. I just set up my profile yesterday.

In doing so, in a hurry, on a tablet, I came to the weight info field. I tapped and gave a fast swipe to get to my neighborhood of entries.... and it scrolled past my target, all the way to the end. Max @305.

There was a time in my life that I would have been unable to enter my weight. Imagine how a morbidly obese person would react - one more indicator that society scorns the fat. I'm sure RM meant no offense in the setup, it was probably just a matter of efficiency, not a desire to exclude. I'm not trying to start a conversation regarding inferred social injustice.

My intended point is that I'm skeptical that someone's reaction to fatsos is cultural.... I'm not aware of any ethnic or cultural group that is less chub-discriminatory
