OMG, I didn't realize today was the Derby. The last time I watched it was 2 years ago, at the lobby bar of the Hyatt, nervously waiting to meet a guy for my very first experience, an "erotic" massage. The experience pales in comparison to subsequent ones.

I went one year and found a spot of grass in the infield. One very handsome dude was walking by me clutching what must have been a thousand dollars in his hand. I asked him if he was on his way to make a bet. He stated that was his intention and said he would be placing the full amount on the horse considered to be the favorite to win. I replied,"Too bad you are going to lose all that cash." He asked who I would bet on. I replied, " The Canadian horse, Sunny's Halo." Without further word he was off to the parimutual and on his return he told me he bet it all on Longshot Sunny's Halo. I felt very badly for making such a flippant comment when I was only willing to wager a 2 dollar bet myself.

Long story short, Sunny's Halo won the race and paid out an amazing sum($7 for a $2 bet). Buddy saw me again and thanked me for the tip and as a sign of appreciation bought me a beer.

Eddie Delahoussey (sp?) was the jock. Sunny's Halo was actually the second betting favorite in the win pool, so not really a "long shot" but a nice payoff by any means!!!!
