I don't know that it is the case with the review you reference, but I have posted 5 star reviews for someone I do not recommend.

The reason is that every 1 star review I've ever sent has been removed by the RentMen staff. If I send in a 5 star review with the "Not Recommended" indicator and add comments (visible to those outside the US) briefly explaining why then it will remain posted and be of more help than nothing at all.

Yes, it's gaming the system but the system is crooked.

I have, on a couple of occasions, sent emails directly to people at their RM address.... <screename>@rentmen.com

I don't recall ever having sent an external email to a client that way; I have had clients respond to my direct queries, however.

It's convoluted to read the written reviews on rentmen.com, but possible. I hope I don't forget any of the steps:

1) Go to: https://hide.me/en/proxy

2) Make sure 'Proxy location' is set to Netherlands (it's usually the default).

3) Type in rentmen.com in the 'Enter web address' window.

4) Click on the red search button.

5) Type in the escort's name under the search filter. You'll see any written review provided by a client.

You can read other written reviews on other escorts (provided a client wrote one). It's somewhat cumbersome but better than nothing.

I am not sure if you can do it without a Premium membership. You have to be in the full version of the website, you cannot do it from the mobil version. You just click on the name of the reviewer and send him a message.

.

Thanks. Switching to "full site" I was able to on my iPad and I'm not a premium member

The pictures are of a UK boxer turned model / trainer who's done a very small amount of straight porn and provided the internet with ample racy pics of himself. For a lot of reasons, I'd say the guy in the RM pictures is not a gay escort working in DC today. Use your chosen verification technique before meeting him.

Odd note -- the internet says he has an equally sexy twin brother, but there's no other info I can find on the twin. Maybe this is the twin using his brother's pictures? Stranger things have happened in the world!

I can't say that the guy in the ad is the guy who put up the ad. However, those are the pics of straight porn star Quinton Hillocks (aka Quinton Hillox).

Any review that says the guy doesn't look like his pics, I'd be extremely wary of the ad.

Could also be user error. I've seen a few one star reviews with:

Ambience: Very relaxing

Are Photos Accurate? Yes they are

Recommend? Yes, definitely

...and a rave in the not-safe-for-US text portion of the review.

yes, there's a small chance the reviewer thought one is best and five is worst....somehow

When viewed outside the U.S. (or with a VPN) the text of the review says:

Lance had a gruff and not very welcoming manner. He asked me to give him the money up front. I refused, saying no one had asked me for that before. He insisted I show him the $$. He is a good masseur, good with his hands--I can recommend that, but he never got hard and didn't seem interested in making me have a good time. I had to call it quits after less than 1/2 hr., gave him the money he asked for, and left.

I'd give it a bit more than a small chance that someone could click through their review incorrectly, rather than confusing the star system itself. We see a lot of clients who struggle to use a browser; lots of people who aren't comfortable on the Internet or who stumble through phone apps. Just look at the number of people on this forum who don't know how to execute a search or post a link.

If you view rentmen ads from a United States I P address, detailed written narratives of client reviews are not visible.

The directions above in post number 8 are helpful if you don't have your own VPN.

If you have a VPN for your internet service, you can access that ad and then the reviews. You will see that particular ad has quite a negative response despite leaving five stars.

The review is detailed and said that the supposed escort asked for the money up front and never got hard during the entire meeting.

Also, those photos appear in countless ads on the internet in addition to the boxer's account. It seems somebody likes to steal his photos for bogus ads.

great way to access the written reviews!....thanks.....only slight comment I have is, for me, I had a yellow "visit anonymously" box instead of a red search button for step #4......

Always amazes me that after, what 25+ years, of internet availability, and more of computers, there are still those incapable of what would otherwise be deemed simple, basic functions.

And I don't know that it's age related. I've seen 5 year olds capable of downloading and using apps on a smart phone and 80 year olds perfectly comfortable with functionality. So what of the others? Laziness?
