Mike, this is a gathering, where we socialize, over a drink, a meal or around a pool. I have attended eight of this get togethers and have formed some very long lasting friendships. Please private me, if you would like more insight into what the weekend is all about.

Although I haven't been before, I think you are misjudging the event. It is all things to all people. From what I've seen, at the most basic level it is two social events over a weekend, a dinner and a pool party, where a number of escorts and men who consider themselves to be potential clients meet to chat and flirt. Some of them are paired off, but by no means all. Some guys make arrangements before the weekend to hire, many do not. I haven't arramged anything more than a hug, and I don't expect to. Glennn's suggestion that people make arrangements with some of the new escorts is nothing more than a suggestion. It makes sense if you want to encourage these young men to stay in the profession. But that doesn't define the weekend, Once we are all in Palm Springs, some of us will fall in love and arrange trysts, some of us will step aside briefly to bump and grind, but most of us will chat sanely and add men to our black books.

As Mike C. says, you can make it anything you want. My primary reason for going is to meet all the gentlemen that I have spoken with through posts that I could not have met at one time because I would not have been able to afford flying to all parts of the country to meet everyone. I get to go to a dinner and a pool party to speak to them or not attend them with no recriminations. The second reason is to stay in the hotel/B&B that I am staying at because I really like it. This gives me a reason to pamper myself. Finally I can rendezvous with working gents if I wish. There is no pressure to do one or the other, either on him (them) or me. I find that a better situation than calling someone and making a date. But maybe that is just me.

For those of us who live a closeted or semi closeted life, the PS weekend is a chance to be more open and honest about a major facet of our persona, our homosexuality. That doesn't mean we all turn into Ru Paul or any other extreme caricature of gaydom. To me, it mainly means a chance to relax, network, celebrate and enjoy our particular social niche without fear of attack, ridicule or hurting people we love who are not privy to every aspect of our lives. Sex may or may not be a part of the weekend. That is up to each individual, right?
