Do you think it's impossible for a pro baseball player to be gay? Or do you think it's impossible for any closeted gay man, including pro athletes, to have found M4M?

 

HB's death and the subsequent outpouring of kind semtiments has encouraged quite a few people who seldom post here to add posts over the past week. Why should BB Pro be any different from them?

If he is, many of you have just given him a really poor welcome to M4M. And if he isn't who he is, well, he wouldn't be the first person to make false claims here and plenty of time to find that out.

 

As for me, I always believe it's best to put out the welcome mat and take new members at face value until there's a reason not to. And I'll say "welcome" once again to the new guy.

But from your post you're obviously a very trusting (albeit naive) person and the more power to you. I'm not--I live in the real world. When people tell you unnecessary things to impress you it sends a warning signal to my brain--just like the warning and "beware" signal I get when I first meet someone and they immediately, almost automatically, tell me that I can trust them cause they are a christian! Perhaps he is. But, as I said above, there's just as good a chance that he isn't a Walter Mitty and that he's exactly who he says he is. None of us have any information other than what is in this thread. But because you find his post suspicious, you feel a need to write one of the longest posts you've ever made at M4M making fun of someone's first post -- without much consideration for the possibility that you're making fun of someone who's being totally honest.

 

In over 2 years, you've made a grand total of 18 posts, two of which are in this thread. Another was yanked by the moderators because of its content. I welcome new posters and welcome back those have been gone for a while; the more voices the merrier. Damn, I go off to play ball and come back to a shit-load of messages. No way can I respond to all of them – hell, I’m having a hard enough time following all the side conversations -- but here are my thoughts in no particular order. First, thanks for the welcome. Third – I agree and disagree with Rick M – posting to this board anonymously is not courageous at all but your comment on ‘not following sports so you do not know who is gay’ is somewhat off. I follow sports but I do not know who is gay. I did not realize following sports meant following sexual preferences of players. I love movies (something else to do when out of town) but I can’t tell you what actor is banging what actress or even what actors are gay. Fourth – no, I am not out and don’t plan to be. Pro ball – regardless of sport is about two things. You have to be good at the sport but you also have to be good with the box office receipts. Baseball is big business and the fans have to have some reason to pay money to see you play. They can either like you – or hate you – but either way they have to want to drop serious bucks to watch you play. Do you realize the average trip to a pro football or basketball game is almost as much money as an escort session? If I were to come out my next contract negotiation would be non-existent. Fifth, I am not even gay. Hell yeah I love hard muscled guys and huge cock just as much as the rest of you but I also like the ladies. At my age I’ll fuck just about anything that looks good. Honestly, guys. Here we all are on a site that values and promises anonymity, but the minute someone posts mentioning that he works in the professional sports or entertainment industry a gaggle of posters suddenly turn into a bunch of teen-aged idol worshippers trying to figure out who he really is. C'mon, give BB Pro a break! I for one believe he is what he is, and he's given a perfectly good explanation of why he uses M4M and hires escorts. We have a lot of other posters who are road warriors and hire for exactly the same reason, yet we don't have a host of people trying to discover their identities. Granted, medical equipment sales or systems analysis aren't such glamorous or unusual occupations, and groupies don't tend to flock to the hotels where their practioners stay, but there's really no difference between them and BB. They work hard, they're constantly on the road, have little free time and hiring escorts is the easiest way to enjoy some companionship without having to spend lots of time and energy finding someone.

 

I've known a couple of other closeted professional gay athletes over the years, and it's not anywhere as glamorous as some of you guys think. Like gays in the U.S. military, they're trying to do their best and make their livings in highly homophobic environments where being "out" can spell the end of their careers. That sucks, but that's the way things are and probably will be for the foreseeable future.
