In any case, a veterinarian named Luciano Ponzetto was the center of controversy last year when he posted multiple self photos with big game animals he had hunted and killed. He received death threats and eventually lost his position at a veterinary hospital, but he defended his passion for big game hunting. The irony of a big game hunting veterinarian was taken to another degree of irony when, last week, the hunter was on a hunting trip in the mountains of Italy and tripped on ice and fell down a 100 foot crevice, killing himself in the process. So the big game hunting animal healer dies was trying to kills animals. Some who demeaned his behavior in a support for animal life, exulted in his dying on a hunting trip.

My being unable to condone killing for sport must be in my DNA. As a child, after my first experience with the sport of fishing, I never went fishing again. My rejection of it progressed from me returning the fish to the water to being unable to pierce the worm with a hook. I wish I could have completed myself with a vegan lifestyle, but alas, I'm a hypocritical carnivore.

I have no problem with hunting as long as you eat whatever you kill. Killing animals just for the thrill of it is what I take issue with. As well as a certain strain of vegan who thinks the life of a cat is equal to the life of a human. It's just not.

I totally agree. That thinking is well outside the parameters of cuisine preference.
