It's genetics and gravity lol the other factors (aside from HEAVY drugs) do make a diff but NOT as much as ppl think. Christopher Atkins (hunk of my 5th Grade fantasies) lead a very healthy life n aged NOT so good very wrinkled. A chain smoking (I've sat next to him n Goldie once) hard drinking Kurt Russell stayed pretty damn hot up to like 60.

I'm very visual so I had to look up Christopher Atkins. Man, he was a hottie! Never saw Blue Lagoon. He is now 55. To my eye, he does look "weathered" compared to Kurt at 60. To QTR's point, fairer skin seems to age less gracefully. Btw, Kurt didn't look as good when he let his hair and beard grow.

I remember swooning over him in the movie "a night in heaven". Whenever I hear the obsession song I automatically think of this scene.

The thing is if you are fair skinned you have to really make a point of both avoiding the sun AND using sunscreen. I'm of 100% Irish descent, and my siblings who avoid the sun have managed to stay pretty young looking into their mid-50s, especially the one who due to a handicap spends most of her time indoors. You'd think she was in her mid-40s but she's 57. Our parents, who were by no means sun worshippers but came of age before sunscreen was really a thing and smoked besides, were much more weathered looking by that age.

Neither does Brad Pitt at 52...

http://www.movenoticias.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/brad-pitt-850x564.jpg

A man well-known for receiving the help of skin doctors (I saw the pictures of him, dressed like a male-bag-lady, going into an LA clinic. It was on a tabloid, so of course it was a reliable picture! :) ).

I saw a preview of his latest film. I think he now looks like someone who some people would say looks like Brad Pitt.

Or Dennis Quaid at 62...I do have to say that a lot of it has to do with the eye of the photographer too... I think Dennis looks amazing!

Hair dye, and probably a hair piece, but kept his weight at a good level. Nice going!

You're also picking photos of members of a group that is on average the most likely to incur skin damage as they age: light-skinned men, who are the most sensitive to sun damage.

People with whose hair and skin are oily age better than those whose hair and skin are dry. There's no one group that has a monopoly on this, but this tends to favor Asians. Dark-skinned Africans may have more protection against the sun than others, but their skin and especially their hair tends to be dry, leaving them somewhere in the middle on average. Those with the lightest skin tones are at a disadvantage, although oily skin and hair help. Asians, who generally have oily skin and hair, fare well until age or health conditions catch up with them. They also do their utmost to avoid sun exposure, mostly because it's associated with menial labor and is thus considered declasse.

Think about it. Aren't the men who come to mind whose faces look like miles of rough road mostly of Northern European descent?

so, you are saying we asians just come with better natural preservatives :p

look at john stamos. i think he made a deal with time... or has a dorian gray picture somewhere :p

Good point SCM. I had looked at Stamos as a possible example of looking great for his age (53) but somehow I think his current youthful look is also based on fillers and other enhancements. Made me pause. Notwithstanding, he looks good.

Botox & fillers?

To my eye, I do love how fit and youthful he looks from afar...and the casual look ally works on him. I woulda guessed mid 30s from afar.

A little Botox in the forehead and maybe some filler in the temples and cheeks, but what the heck is wrong with that? There is no reason why he should just let his looks fade into dust like some of the other men in this thread. Whatever he is doing, he is doing it in moderation and it looks damn good!

Another crush I had that left me crushed when I saw him recently was C Thomas Howell. I don't know how many of you remember him in Red Dawn and other 80s hits when he was so handsome.

He's 49 now and I always wondered what the hell happened. Could that be genetics.

I agree. I think we might have found the best so far. I can't see any work done and not much change IMO.

Man, and there are men who just age so nicely...so much so, they look better older...I give you Daniel Craig

Before & after...

Damn. He actually improved. Like his most fuck-able years were ahead of him.

Well, like George Orwell said. We all get the face we deserve by age 50.
