Anyone watching America's Got Talent? Brian Justin Crum is a singer who's been open about being bullied as an overweight gay kid. I don't much like his hairstyle but I like him and his singing.

The came in fourth behind a 12 year old singer songwriter who plays the ukelele; a hot looking couple who do a clairvoyant act; and a professional football player who does magic. The fifth place finisher was a 21 year stereotypical NYC ItaloAmerican who sang in the style of the Rat Pack. Writing it out, it seems like it was some sort of high school talent show, but all of the acts were very entertaining. I do think this man has a chance to have the kind of success that Adam Lambert has had.

Dom, I see your point, but in previous years, novelty acts have either won or finished very high in the voting. I believe a ventriloquist has won and a dog act. I know a group doing large scale silhouettes came in second one year. So the show does showcase the unusual and novel as well as the more traditional singers and dancers.

 

The rest of the top ten this year included a 12 year old opera singer, a young female contortionist, a very sexy and muscular juggler who wore very little but body paint, a four part harmony singing group and an absurdist mime comedian whose hook was that he duct taped his mouth closed. Fairly random and bizarre group.

She was a singer songwriter and for a 12 year old, her lyrics were very mature. I think that was a major factor in her popularity. As for me, I wanted the juggler to play with my balls.

I loved Tape Face, my kids HATED him! They liked The Clairvoyants best.
