You're right, it doesn't have to be. The aurora australis [southern lights] is the definition of impermanence, but nonetheless incredible. I understand you guys have a similar sort of thing.

We have the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). They are usually only visible in the most northern states like Alaska. Occasionally they can be seen in New York, Michigan, Vermont, and a few other places. Canada affords a better opportunity then most places in the continental United States.
