Hollywood pedophilia scandal.

Former child star Elijah Wood has spoken out on Hollywood’s pedophilia crisis. But in an industry notorious for turning its back on the issue, will anyone listen?

Elijah Wood may be most famous for his role as Frodo Baggins, the hobbit protagonist of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but as a child star in Hollywood he appeared in a remake of Flipper and co-starred with Macaulay Culkin in The Good Son.

And, in an extensive interview with the (paywalled) Sunday Times this weekend, he has made the explosive allegation that Hollywood is in the grip of a child sexual abuse epidemic, with rich and powerful industry figures abusing child actors with impunity.

The 35-year-old former child star said in the interview, tabled to promote his latest film, The Trust, about corrupt cops planning to steal drug money, that he had been protected from abuse by his mother, Debra, and “never went to parties where that kind of thing was going on,” but said that other child actors had been regularly “preyed upon” by “vipers” in Hollywood

In an in-depth interview with THR, the 'Goonies' and 'Lost Boys' star opens up about his late best friend Corey Haim's rape by a producer at age 11, the pre-teen parties where predators stalked and groomed their marks and the "dark side" of his close pal Michael Jackson: "The man is gone. Let him rest in peace."

Many people close to The Business knows many dirty secrets by powerful people across the industry. Many a child actor, young musician and more have been abused or taken advantage of over the years.

Nasty way to show off power among others

I don't know about Dow specifically, but you can be sure this was going on back then too. In a more insular Hollywood where the insiders might have known who played for which team, but to the general public, it was more about rumor, and being gay just wasn't openly talked about as it is today. Molestation just wouldn't have been talked about - period. But we can be sure it happened.

? I'm not sure what you mean. Are you suggesting people brag about it behind closed doors to show off how powerful they are? Maybe. I'm not privy to such behavior. What I was referring to are all the supporting roles. The assistants, drivers, domestic staff, lawyers, agents, and more who see questionable and even illegal activity and do nothing. Sports have similar issues. Just look at Paterno at Penn. He knew about Sandusky's rapes and abuse for decades but did nothing for a whole host of reasons. Or all the Catholic Church staff over the decades who turned a blind eye to molestation by priests and even actively helped protect those rapists because publicizing them would harm "Mother Church." Hell, I know people who talk about being sexually abused in the military by their COs. Wherever there's a significant power imbalance, there will be assault, molestation, and rape. We just don't talk about it in America or even acknowledge it because of our fucked issues around sex and power. That's probably a big part of why rape is one of the most under-reported crimes across America.

I tend to think most people who do it don't openly brag, but they might leave clues, consciously or unconsciously.

And...although the accent here is on Hollywood (and you mention sports and priests as well), the other performing arts aren't immune either. There was a higher-up involved with the original production (and tour) of Les Miserables who ran a veritable casting couch for the younger men (meaning the college age guys - I'm not aware he ever went for the young boys playing Gavroche and god help him if he did). I don't know if this was 100% consistent in terms of casting results, but it was pretty common swept-under-the-rug knowledge that if you were cast as (or understudying) Marius, you were most probably doing sexual favors for this guy. I don't know why they let it go on for so long - except maybe the fact that the victims weren't underage made it seem different - even though it was still coercion.

of course not, why would I...

so many would-be-stars/directors... the ones who make it usually feel tempted about power over others like: casting couch, pedophilia, blackmail, etc.

The army also denied rape just like institutions usually do.

this is a fairly old story. I remember reading a number of things a couple of years ago and seeing the film linked above.

Remember when Noah Galvin said something about Bryan Singer in his infamous interview with Out (?) last year and had to retract it after Singer's lawyers came after him?

Everyone already knows Singer likes the young boys.

I am unsurprised that Marylander would resurrect his year-old thread about some salacious topic.

80% of my posts are pictures in the gallery... sometimes I feel like talking about serious things like this, please don't shoot me for doing it.

Now you’re resurrecting it again! No posts for 5 months until your’s today?

Yes, and the first time after 2 days of inactivity.

Whatever happened to this disgusting subject?

Having an intelligent discourse about a subject and breathlessly reporting gossip are two entirely different things. And lest we forget you are the person who enjoys charting the effects of "serious" events like the Paris shooting on escort income.

You only post to criticize someone else, you don't contribute to this forum not even with pictures, you just attack what a member posts over and over again.

Gentlemen: please check this member!

May I have a link to what you're talking about?

So this thread has been resurrected after 5 months so you @marylander1940 can have a public disagreement with @YoungAD ?

Looks like this is happening on several other threads in the past minutes.

Y'all (not yinz) take it to the PMs or convos. IMO, no need to re-up old news to bash/hash-out an issue.

I didn't know NOW you have the power to judge what others say on here.

Are you policing us?

May I bring yinz back to the subject of this thread and find out whatever happened to this issue?

Not policing at all @marylander1940 . Though I've noticed several recent posts of yours today (reviving old threads) where you've referenced a disagreement with @YoungAD .
