That's kind of rude, BoD. It might be so at the local Doc in the Box, but I take umbrage at the implication that sub-standard care occurs on weekends. Fewer medical personnel, but the same quality.

Nobody likes to work on weekends, but it's a necessity. Years ago, I had to give up my Labor Day weekend and help perform a liver transplant.

[An aside: We had a rule, which appears to be true in business in general: The worst consult of the week comes in on Fridays at 4:00 P.M.]

Well Gallahad and the other medical folk on the board - I am sorry If you are offended by my post.

However, it is based on years of personal exp in ERs and hospitals as a patient, places I have spent much more time than I cared to.

I'm just in the throes of being diagnosed with Lymphoma. I waited about 2 weeks before I saw the doctor about the swelling in my neck. I think we caught it early enough.

Stay aware of the swelling and if you have pain or swelling in nodes other than your neck i.e. groin or armpits. If it doesn't clear within a week or two I would recommend a follow-up consultation/testing.

I wish you a speedy and non-eventful recovery!!

Good luck with the Lymphoma. There are different kinds and I hope yours is one of the treatable ones. I do suggest seeing a specialist for treatment of Lymphoma who knows the newest developments which are happening at a rapid pace. There are certain medical centers that have special Lymphoma departments for treatment and research and those are the best places to go if you are near one.

I echo others here who wish for the best of conclusions for your journey. Bigjoey is right on the button. And even tho you may see a specialist in the best of settings, a second and sometimes a third opinion will NOT hurt. You may get the same info at each but you might just like one doc over the others.

Good luck!

Definitely agree about seeing different doctors if you can. Recently, I had a rash, was seen by a doctor, and began a course of treatment. For some reason I got it into my head that I should see a specialist at a large medical center nearby and found one. He saw me and diagnosed me with somthing completely different. He put me on a different treatment which is working. Because it was fast-growing rash, I'm glad I acted quickly.

P.S. It was not the guy above.
