I have to agree that the NYC cast was very well endowed. And, they seemed very comfortable and at ease showing it all. Not the least little hint of concern.

This is play worth seeing! Where is it playing in LA and does anyone know how long it is there? (Is this a touring company or a "permanent" fixture?)

So, nude scenes in theatre have now denigrated to the point that the MAIN reason for choosing an actor for the production is how big the actor's dick is?

Doesn't matter one iota how much acting ability the actor possesses as long as he shows a big dick? After all, acting ability needed to carry 90% of the scenes, is secondary to the 10% of the production that is nudity scenes.

Since the entire audience is gay, and that audience demands that the actors be hung, then just hire, no acting talent, big dicked porno stars to carry the show!

Yep, as a gay man, I'm so shallow that I certainly have no reason to see a gay themed show that is well acted! I only NEED to see horse hung actors tripping on the lines and stinking up the stage. Gee, it wouldn't occur to me to go to a nude dance boy bar to see big dick, as I also DEMAND that legitimate theatre show me the same damn thing or kiss my dollars goodbye!

Ooops, I guess this post means that I have lost my membership in the 40+ gay crowd that giggles like 12 year old girls seeing a hardon for the first time.

Well if being a big dick was paramount to being employed, you'd never have to worry about being out of work!

I saw "Take Me Our" for first time on Sunday 9/19 and was just blown away! One of the best plays I have ever seen!. Most beautifully written! While the nudity and gay coming out have got the publicity, there is so much much more substance to this play - it warrants being seen again to get more of the meaning and themes.

I thought the cast and the performances by the actors and the staging was superb. (I don't know but my guess this is not a touring production but local with connections to UCLA). Many of our brothers/sisters in audience but since it was a Sunday matinee I at 70yo was one of the younger members of the audience who seemed to "get it" and received it respectfully.

It is playing at the Geffen Playhouse in Brentwood on the VA campus through Oct. 24th.

SEE it for the marvelous play it is (and the the gay ball player is a sexy hunk - the nudity is not gratuitous but it is not the major thrust of the performance, well integrated.):-) :) ;)

Welllllll-I may be shallow on this point, but a lot of the gay plays that I see-I'll use Naked Boys Singing and any of the Ronnie Larsen Plays-Use full frontal nudity as one of the draws,as does Take Me Out.

A lot of these shows are not "serious"theatre, just entertainment,so yes a little strip show is what I am paying for-and rarely get.

I have not seen Take Me Out yet-and I am not inferring that it is in the same league as the above mentioned shows, but I know a couple of guys(who pay the rent in other ways)who have auditioned for,but rarely get cast in gay shows, who are better equipped than the actor who makes the cut-while being just as talented.

Don't promise me a lobster and then serve me a shrimp!

He`s naked with average dick. Since I don`t watch 6 Feet Under I`m not sure whether his appearance has changed. The character he plays is a John Rocker type. Homophobic and bigoted. He`s an excellent actor.

This theatre only holds about 250 people and the crowd was surprisingly mixed. Many older married couples who must have season tickets with this play thrown into the mix.

Unless they changed the play from the one on Broadway, the entire cast (except the baseball team's manager) is naked at some point. They do a lot of shower scenes. So, if he is playing the role of Shane Mungitt, the homophobic relief pitcher, then yes, he is most certainly in a nude scene with the main gay character.

Actually, the main character, Mason, the agent, doesn't get naked. In NY, at the Public (off-Broadway) there were 3 shower scenes; on Broadway, 2.

Ok, you're right. I forgot about Mason. I guess I was dickstracted....er, I mean, distracted by everyone else. :p

Sorry, only partial credit for that answer. The only actors who DO get naked are those on the main (Darren's) team. In other words, the hot black guy who's Darren's friend on the opposing team, does NOT (much to my chagrin.) This is based on my viewing of the final Broadway performance in January, 2004.

Yes, he plays the part of Shane Mungitt and while is persona is that of John Rocker, he sure doesn't have Rocker's gawjus handsome face and physique - and I'd luv to see Rocker's dick! whatever size it is! up close and personal- bet he's a grower! :p :9 }(

RE: "Take Me Out" -LA Style

Correct! As I said, EVERYONE on Darren's team (except the manager) gets naked. The guy I was referring to is BLACK and is Darren's friend, but is on the OPPOSING team.

Darren's character is supposed to be bi- (or multi-)racial. On Broadway, he was played by Daniel Sunjata, the hottie who is often on "Law and Order SVU" as one of the medical examiner-types. (He was also Carrie's sailor-boy pickup during Fleet Week on "Sex and the City.") And yes, he did get naked.

I haven't had a chance to actually see Take Me Out, but I have read the script. As a director, I would say that four of the men in the shower scene need to be good actors. The others are there as window dressing - whether in that scene or in clothed scenes - so, yeah, window dressing ought to be chosen by how well they dress the window, so to speak. It's like complaining that only pretty girls with big boobs are chosen for the chorus in a Feydeau farce. Of course they are, that's what they're there for.
