There have been a number of posts about STD on this message board and a significant amount of good information exchanged. But I am curious about whether any escorts believe, or know, they have actually caught a STD from a client encounter. Alternatively, are there any clients who believe, or know, they have caught an STD from an escort encounter.

I'm not sure that I understand the point of your questions but I believe that you will find that the answers are "yes", and "yes".

(Which is not intended to suggest that you are any *more* likely to get infected with an STD in an escort/client encounter than in any other sexual situation just that, of course, it does sometimes happen)

No and No

I have gotten a cold from a client, that is about it. None of my clients have ever indicated to me that they have ever received anything other than a bad performance or a no-show performance from an escort. However, to be honest, I am not sure if a client would necessarily admit to having received an STD. I did a very informal polling of some of my friends and all of them claimed to have never gotten an STD, whereas I know one of them got crabs from another guy on an on line sex cam show, where they did not actually have sex, but were in close physical proximity to one another. Perhaps he does not considers crabs an STD?

I will admit to getting an STD from an escort, assuming your definition of escort includes a "dancer" at the Campus in San Francisco. Luckily an easily curable one, Chlamydia, a super megadose of antibiotics and it was history. And there really is no question since he was the only contact for weeks. I did notify him, never had a reply so don't know if he did anything about it. Never saw him again, it does tend to put a damper on things for awhile. Since then I've gone a bit more upscale in my hiring and not had any problems. I think that may have been before this site-don't remember the date but I could look it up - when I got back to the hotel everyone was glued to the TV set watching a White Ford Bronco cruising the LA Freeway }(

I know a former escort who got Syphylis from a client. I think he only ever saw 3 clients, and those were quite far apart. There were no other sexual situations to account for it. But there it was on his routine checkup.

When he called the client to tell him, the response was "I'm SO sorry it worked out this way, but you were too cute to pass up".

That was the last client my friend saw.

While i haven't dealt with any STD's...

I will say that flying on a consistant basis makes for catching all sorts of strange things. I suppose when you're breathing other people's air for hours on end, you'll eventually end up with something unsavory.

Colds in-particular seem to kick my ass around the winter months, so i always remember to keep some zinc lozenges handy, as well as MUCHO glasses of OJ when flying for any amount of time. I still refuse to wear a SARS filtration mask when flying, but do carry a personal (neckworn) ionizer. I'm sure i look like an idiot on the plane when wearing it, but who gives a flip if it keeps me in good health :)

Anyone know when they finally stopped filtering the air in aircrafts? Was it after they kicked out smoking? I would definitely pay a bit of a premium for HEPA-filtered air...

Sneezingly Yours,

Ben, try using Zicam instead of zinc lozenges. The stuff really works. It's a nasal liquid gel that keeps the cold germs from replicating, therefore lowering the duration and severity of the cold. You can get it in any drugstore over the counter. There are different kinds. It's the one that says cold remedy. It's homeopathic, and therefore, completely safe. I'm not a doctor, but I used zinc lozenges for years, and they helped. At least for me, the nasal gel is even more effective. Super echinacea also seems to help. I use the tincture, which I get at Whole Foods.

Have contracted STD's on two occasions from escorts - I know it had to be because I only have sex with male escorts (very closeted here). The first time was crabs, but the most recent was syphilis - it took my doctor three months to figure it out - I finally suggested that I might have an STD (afraid that it was HIV) - so he tested me and it was positive for syphilis. Awful, awful stuff AND then having to deal with the local health department was unbelievable - they wanted to know everything about my life imaginable and were relentless in pursuing me for information as to who, what, when, and where. I have to understand, though, because syphilis gone untreated is bad stuff. I wrote to all my partners before and after the incident and nearly all answered and grateful for the honesty - probably one of the two who didn't answer was the carrier.

I personally swear by the Echinacea Goldenseal tincture, there are several types available, which can often be found even in Krogers, Rite Aid and other large chains. I had a slight sore throat when I landed in Toronto and found a very expensive bottle of tincture in Canada, but it did the trick.

The studies conducted in Germany have shown the efficacy to be good; however, this is for the tincture base, not the pills which can often be found in places like drugstores, grocers, and health food stores.

If it's not too personal a question....... could you tell us what were the symptoms you experienced? Would be good to know what to watch for.

Syphilis in the medical world is referred to as "the great impersonator" - it disguises itself as many diseases symptomatically. My first symptom was a red splotchy rash on my chest, stomach, and back (I think this occurred about 2-3 weeks after infection by my calculation). A week later I had the worst stomach and abdominal cramps imaginable followed by the inability to keep most food down so I had to eat in small quantities - lost 16 pounds over the 3 month period. A few weeks after that I had a hideous case of "jock itch" in my groin that lasted for 2 weeks and at one point during this I had a flat red spot on the side of my penis - did not itch, ache, or blister and disappeared in about 4 or 5 days. Then came the thickly coated white tongue followed by that coating turning black. AND the real killer after the tongue incident was a breakout in my mouth of canker sores - there were anywhere from 20-34 of these on my tongue, inside of cheeks, and on my gums and this lasted for a month. During the canker sore period, I develped reddish, brown spots on the palms of my hands and on the soles of my feet - these would turn to a blister which had nothing in it and eventually flake away.

After the diagnosing blood test, I received a huge shot in the butt of penicillin (drug of choice) and was canker sore free, spot free, rash free, vomiting free - symptom free in 3-4 days.

Wow - that sounds too scary - glad to hear though as I would run not walk to the nearest doctor if I ever exerienced anything like that. Thanks for taking the time to inform us - much appreciated!
