Oh sure. You were swayed by their sharp shooting.

Haha, no, I seriously thought the case that was made was valid. I only threw the 'they were hot' line in as defference to the usual prejudices of this forum!

What he did was a terrible betrayal both of someone already grieving and the pet who had been entrusted to his care. That's true even if he did it at home without causing anguish to onlookers.

I have no problem per se with being an omnivore. After all, I live with and feed an obligate carnivore (otherwise known as a cat). I do have a problem with the way animals raised for food are treated, but I also realize that to some extent my thrift and my principles run in opposite directions.

I don't eat veal and when I buy beef and lamb, look for grass-fed beef and lamb from Australia, which seems to be able to sell such products for reasonable prices; maybe Mike Carey can elaborate on this. But I know chicken is not well-treated at the big name processors, yet other than buying free-range boneless and skinless chicken thighs on sale, this hasn't changed my buying habits, possibly because real-life (as opposed to cartoon) chickens aren't as endearing as other animals.

Australia tends to produce free range and grass fed meat but not always for ethicsl reasons, it can be just because it's the most efficient way of doing so.

It's the prices that surprise me. Even though the transport costs have to be greater, when I can find it, the (Australian) Nature's Reserve brand beef and lamb costs less than the same cuts raised and slaughtered in the US.

I skip most posts that are over a couple paragraphs because they tend to be either lectures or screeds.

I do that too (in most cases - it depends on the poster) although it has caused me to not be up to date on all the drama that currently surrounds the forum as of today (2/25/16).

I generally try to resist jumping to conclusions, but this horrendous, senseless attack being brought on by only a "suspicion" of cheating has me thinking behavior-altering substances are in the mix. It depresses and frightens me that so many of our young people (and, now not so young people) feel they must inhale, ingest, or inject solutions to their problems. I heard a recent news statistic that stated nearly 50% of revenues garnered by the drug cartels come from the United States. As more and more of these addictions make their ways into positions of responsibilities, "what could possibly go wrong."

I could be very wrong here, but isn't veal a by product of the milk industry?I think that the bull calves delivered from dairy cows are removed so the milk can be used for human consumption rather than feeding the calf, and that such calves end up as veal.If one doesn't eat veal because it is 'abuse' of the little calves,it may be construed to be "hypocritical" to consume milk/milk products and not veal for so called ethical reasons.

It's because of the way the calves are treated: kept in crates, not allowed to move for fear of them becoming too muscular rather than tender. I can't drink traditional milk anyway because I'm mildly lactose intolerant, so I drink nonlactose products. I'm not sure in what way the processing is different, though.

I believe calves are kept in a small confined area like a crate so they cant move. they are also kept in darkness so they stay asleep more, and force fed a mash mixture of milk and corn.
