I'm fairly new to this particular hobby and looking for some advice for boosting traffic. I started advertising on RentMen in August and I have had a few clients since then, but I'm wondering what I can do to boost my traffic. I'm 22, safe only, versatile, Dallas-based and FTM. I know that's a little different, but I really enjoy escorting and would like to save up enough money to go to graduate school. If anyone has any advice for me, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks for that! I keep having to remind myself that it takes money to make money. I just always wonder if it's worth it. I guess since I'm in kind of a niche position, 3x the views does up the chance that I'll get someone who's up for the adventure.

Like I said on the other thread, Dallas is a convention city. Go for those business travelers who like it outside the box...no pun intended.

Same advice as I have given to another FtM escort on this forum. Maybe Rentmen is not the best website for you. Here in NYC, the trans escorts have a very active presence on Backpage - http://newyork.backpage.com/TranssexualEscorts/ The TS section does not split into FtM or MtF, which are more common. The other website you can try is the trans section of Eros.com. I think it is a question of finding the right 'channel'. Are there any blogs or chat rooms for trans in your area? I would ask around how the Johns find their trans escorts, specifically in the geographic area that you are in.

Good luck!

I have a very good friend here in NYC who is FtM who advertises on rentmasseur as well as craigslist. He is well aware that it is a bit of a "niche market" and gets a good number of replies from both sites, but the demographic profile (shall i say?) tends to he a bit different between the two.

PM me if you think you might like me to facilitate a chat between the two of you (he is not a member of this forum).

What would probably work is finding a niche within a niche. S&M for example. Unfortunately when being an FTM and a transsexual escort, you'll run into a lot of crazies and oddballs because most of your clients will come from the shadier sites like CL and backpage. Putting yourself in a position of power like being a dominatrix gives you a chance to grab what you're going thru by my the balls, no pun intended. I wouldn't recommend putting emphasis on rentmen for you, try using Eros.

I think this is solid advice, it also saddens me. :( Killian, please know that what I'm about to say is not directed at you. I'm just frustrated, and your thoughtful & well-intended post, has triggered me.

To think that perfectly cute guys, like @Harrison Maine or Andre, have to find a niche within a niche to make their business model work, tells me that our society sucks. Just bc someone is different, instead of embracing them & enjoy their uniqueness, we actually force them to marginilize themselves. We are sorta saying that in order to be successful providers they need to fetishize their caring service. I, for one, opted in to this hobby to expand my sexual, intimacy, and connection horizons. I really need to work on myself some more and figure out what the hell is keeping me from booking these two gents. I think it is my own ignorance. I need to simmer on this further, but I'm definelty steaming, and pissed off at myself.

Interesting comment TR and it has much to commend it. It does say something negative about society that any escort has to resort to niche marketing but with an important caveat. Niche marketing does not have to mean staying away from the mainstream market place although it can mean that. I have an issue if we aren't mature enough to accept niche marketing in the mainstream marketplace and want people offering service perceived as 'niche' to disappear into a secret place so we don't have to see them. That is really marginalising those people. My obligation is to refrain from dismissing the idea of hiring 'niche' providers, but I don't feel an obligation to hire them as some sort of political act of solidarity.

I have to strongly respectfully disagree. There is nothing wrong with you, nothing wrong them them and nothing wrong with our society in the contexts that our "society" can relate to this. Why do certain things turn us on? Why are some men into brunettes and others blondes? Why do some men like their escorts young and some like them more mature? No one knows why. There isn't a science that we know of that can tell us what attracts us to certain characteristics. Why do I get hired more as a top now that I have topping Porn out? Can I blame society on wanting what they see and not being open minded? No. So I gave them something else to see. I'd never get hired by certain people cause I'm too short or too bulky or [insert reason], it'd be silly to blame society and that just because I have a cock and they like cock that should be good enough for them to hire me. Surviving is all about evolution. Try different things out and see what works and stop what doesn't.

What is keeping you from doing it is probably because you're using your desire to become more accepting as a reason to hire rather than your natural instincts based on attraction. I could be wrong but if it weren't the case you'd have made the move. I'm not trying to be dick but I am trying to give logical, practical advice that I really think would take off for them. Do you know how powerful being a dominatrix is? Hella powerful. Power exchange with a FTM? That sounds like a submissives wet dream to me.

Good point. To be clear, my post is not a cry for solidarity, but a personal call to action as to why I'm still waiting to hire. I'm frustrated with myself. I don't expect others to move, unite, or whatever. That's on them. I have myself to worry about. I'm also big on niche marketing. I'd hate to see niche marketing go at the expense of mainstreaming, we should be able to have it all.

Thanks for making me think. :) Actually, I haven't made the move out of ignorance. That's what pisses me off. I've made the move to have sex with men who don't meet my blond, blue-eyed hunk preference. You were one of my preference breakers. ;) Thank you, sexy man. I've been testing and expanding my preferences for a while, and every time I break thru a preference, I ask myself : what took me so long? I don't hold others or society accountable for my actions. I do hold myself (my biases, my preferences, my ignorance and my fears) accountable. I gotta do some work on why I haven't moved yet to hire a transgender individual, but I'm not going to sit idly saying to myself: I'm wired to be this way, therefore, it's ok. Bullshit. I'm wired to explore. That's my dilemma to work thru - no others' or society 's

PS - let me emphasize, your advice is solid. My reaction is a personal tangent

BACK TO TRAFFIC-BOOSTING IDEAS - this thread is not about me. Sorry for the detour!

Solid advice. And let us not forget that our "mainstream" is a subset (niche) in itself. I doubt that our mainstream guys would take it personally if they weren't drawing clients from a female site targeting straight men, so the trick is getting in front of the target market.

Is webcamming a stupid idea? I know it is not easy work and requires its own skill set, but it might be one way to get broad exposure. It seems like an easier way for someone who is curious to find out how far the attraction goes. I don't know if that would translate to tips and income, but it's a thought. I know that webcam models are constantly asked how someone can meet them in person.

LOVE the webcam idea. As a client, I'd be willing to pay a reasonable fee to learn and explore. As I process my thoughts on this thread, one of my fears is making the transgender escort feel bad bc I don't know how I would react. Fear of rejecting others is very real for me. This webcamming could help me understand, learn, explore and build rapport while also enticing me to do more. Just my reaction...not speaking for others!

I highly recommend that you build yourself a website. Not only does it instill a sense that you take this seriously, but it gives you an opportunity to create something that is personal. I have used many different website builders and currently am using Wix and very happy with it. It will run you about $30/month, but as you stated earlier, you gotta spend money to make money. If you need any help with this feel free to message me.

+1. You'll be able to market yourself much better and have more freedom rather than sticking to the confines of cookie cutter escort website. You are not cookie cutter my friend, you're very unique, a rarity. Rarity is expensive. With the right marketing you'll easily be pushing the $500/HR when you finally get it right.

I strongly agree, you are very unique. Transsexuals have a very high demand, it is just all in your marketing. Build a website, I am not sure if Rentmen is the best fit for you but keep your options open. Definitely look into eros, backpage, and maybe slixa. Even though slixa is mainly women and MTF you will definitely increase your traffic. You are very attractive and unique. I am sure you will do very well ;).

such a pain in the ass, but new photos are always a boost. try that.

I am SO tired of getting new photos every 2 years. after 17 years of escorting and more than 100 positive reviews, can't I just get a pass by now, can't people just assume I look like my photos? I guess not. It's funny, because als ich jung war, getting the photos was fun. now it's just a hassle.

As killianjamesnyc pointed out, different things turn different people on. There's no reason to worry about being a "niche" market and no reason to fear rejection - none of that is personal, and your audience is out there. And as Lance says, having a website can be helpful.

Here's what I do. First, I have my own website - I've had it for years, I update it regularly. It's a pay website, but you can go and see preview videos to help you decide whether you want to join or not. Also, right on the home page, I have links to ALL the other social media I'm on, a link to my Rentmen profile, and links to the other porn I have done. This way, someone can see my website, and whether or not they join, they can see more of me, and find me in other places. I'm on Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, Vine, Bateworld, Facebook, YouTube- and I post regularly, and interact with other folks. Each account links back to my website and/or my other social media outlets, so no matter where you find me, you can find me everywhere else very simply. I also use Periscope as a way to give people some real face-time - I hop on here and there and talk and answer questions in my underwear. None of these services cost me anything and they don't guarantee me anything EXCEPT that people have a way to find me, check me out, follow me and know who I am and what I'm about. Also, I pay attention to who views me on Rentmen. If someone has looked at my profile 3 or more times and hasn't reached out to me, I reach out to them. I just drop a line saying hello, thanking them for checking my profile out, and inviting them to contact me if they have questions or want to plan some time to get together. I figure that some people might be shy or hesitant, and showing them that I'm friendly and approachable may help them make the choice to hire me - and it has worked for me.

Essentially, escorts and porn stars are fucking everywhere and it's easy to get lost in the sea of people. Your audience just needs to know that you exist! And in today's world, you need to repeat yourself and your message constantly. I say my name and website at least 100 times a day!

Good luck :)
