I recently saw an escort who had agreed to top me, but when I got there he had no condoms or lube. Luckily I had brought condoms, but the only lube he could come up with was a hand cream. We went ahead and used it, but I was concerned about whether it was the wrong thing to use with latex. I didn't know what to look for on the ingredients. Was this super dangerous, or only if he came?

A short screed aside: this is not the first time I've run into an escort that didn't know the basics. He not only was airhead enough not to have condoms, but he didn't know there were certain lubes that shouldn't be used with latex. I felt like saying "this is your work, man, you better wake up." But I didn't. Some of these guys are so out to lunch. I actually don't think he forgot the condoms as way to get out of the sex, I think he just didn't remember. A real lack of professionalism.

Before anyone flames me, I realize I should know what to look for in the lube ingredients too.

If an escorts brings the condoms and lube that is fine but I feel that the client, unless if the escort is asked otherwise, should provide the condoms and lube. We should always have those on hand if we are having an escort come over to our place but if we our going to the escorts house, as a safety precaution, one should have those on hand. A quick stop to the drug store or the adult book store to pick some up is not a difficult task. And if you are traveling out of town, a small bottle of lube and a box of condoms does not take up alot of room in the suitcase or shaving kit. I do not mean to sound harsh but if I want someone to fuck me then I better be pulling out the right equipment in order for that to happen.

I won't flame you for not knowing which lubes to use. You can find that information easily enough at sites like gayhealth.com.

I'll flame you for expecting to get fucked and not being ready. The only person that can control what goes up your ass is you!

Get yourself a little backpack, or fanny pack, or even a gucci bag, and STOCK IT! Carry it along on excursions like this. Be READY!

Take responsibility for your own good time! (and along the way your health!) Don't rely on someone else.

Just my opinion, but I think it's ALWAYS a good idea for the CLIENT to bring along supplies too. I always have lube and condoms on me when I'm meeting someone. That way, if he forgets, doesn't have the right supplies, etc., it's never a problem. Usually I've been pleasantly surprised and the escort had the appropriate supplies (sometimes ones he prefers), but at least on one occasion it was a good thing I brought what's necessary.

I do agree escorts should know as much as possible about safe sex, proper condom use, disease prevention, etc., but at the same time, I think it's JUST as important the client knows that info. too.

Derek and I always have our own supplies. We know which condoms we prefer (whether he's topping or I'm bottoming) and which lube. We also like to be in control of our health/safety and feel better knowing that we have fresh, far-from-the-expiration-date, non-nonoxynol-9 condoms. Plus, we just think it's good manners for us to supply it. :)

I think that if one hires an escort, he should be ready as well with all of the suplies needed. I personally always bring along all of my supplies, after all, this is my job and i should provide the proper equipment. However, the client should also be aware that we are all human and sometimes we do overlook things if we are in a rush, etc... Therefore he should also be prepared...

As far as I know, you should only use water-based lubricants with condoms. Therefore, the hand creams was a no-no.

Just as women can no longer push the responsibility for contraception on men, bottoms can no longer push the responsibility for safe-sex on tops.

Responding to LeeOz's post: There are a few exceptions~

If you're using LATEX condoms, make sure to only use either a water or silicone-based lube. Any mineral oil base in a lube will break down the latex and increase the risk of STD transmission. That also goes for those who carry their condoms in a wallet or back pocket for long periods of time. Heat + Condoms = Bad.

If you're wild about oil-based lubes like i am, then why not try polyurethane condoms (ie, Avanti or Trojan Supras), which are 10x as strong as latex, compatable with ALL sorts of lubes and also transmit bodyheat... Something latex doesn't do very well. They're a might more expensive, but well-worth it when dealing in hot action.

Whether you're a top or a bottom, they've worked well for me in the past. I highly recommend Trojan Supras in particular. Fellow escort Bobby Thompson turned me onto these new custom fit condoms, sold online and in-person at LA's Pleasure Chest. Very shagadelic indeed.

I suppose it's a gay escort's version of 'finding the perfect pair of jeans.' ;)

Warmest Always,

Well,

they have given you great advise already. The non-latex condoms, where to look for reliable information when it comes to lube and what's better...

I personally think that every single person (bottom or top, escort or client, virgin or promiscuos) IS responsible for his own health. Nobody will save me from contracting anything... That's why I am always prepared, so I dont have to rely on anybody else. Besides as they said before, I think it is polite to provide it as an escort.

Now, when it comes to lube... If you are in the heat of the moment, and there is nothign at hand... DONT go and look for stuff... take a big drink of water, chew a little bit, and you will be shocked by the moist properties of saliva! You might need a lot, but as a natural body lubricant, it does a marvelous job, and keeps you having fun non stop. On condoms of both types, or on a latex glove, saliva is the perfect answer for those times of need... and it is perfectly safe!

Moist and happy hiring!
