From my own experience, if the desire isn't there, it's not there. Also, unless the "urge" is there, viagra etc. won't work.

That's what I thought. This kinda confirms my suspicion that my friends Dr is just pushing pills on him.

If "desire" has left the building, then perhaps his physician needs to check out his endocrine levels, in particular, a low free Testosterone.

There's a syndrome, can't remember it all, of high Prolactin, low testosterone, and one other pituitary hormone goes out of whack.

The Endocrinologist says this is common, and that treating the testosterone fixes the whole thing.

I'm irregular with it, but I will say, with a starting free Testosterone 1/3 below the Normal Lower Limit, my Testosterone supplementation

makes a whole lot of sense. And since I'm of the older set, I could use all the muscle mass I can muster. [The truly curious can ask me about

2010 in PM]. I feel better, and I pump iron better.

[independent rant; feel free to stop reading] My bone density is good, but I am an old fart. No old ladies in my family broke their hips, and

by and large I come from pretty healthy stock. I just want to hedge my bets by figuring, if you have more muscle mass, vector forces

attempting to fracture a hip / humerus / etc. are less likely to be successful. For men, this means testosterone supplementation along

with a conscientious program of muscle growth and [therefore] increased bone mass.

Oh, dear. I do apologize.

Concur with Gallahad.... There is a difference between libido and the physiological phenomenon of an erection. Viagra does a great job of taking care of the physiological problem or enhancing the experience (i.e. super hard on).

So Viagra does not increase the desire for sex, it just gives you a nice erection. Perhaps a nice erection will increase the pleasure and hence desire for more? Doubt it, however....

I asked my friend if the Dr checked his testosterone levels and he said he had and they were fine. He's in his early 40's, has a lil tummy (it's super cute though), on HIV meds as well as on something for anxiety, just about diabetic and has a bit on his plate personal wise.

I agree that sildenafil does not directly affect libido, but the relief from performance anxiety that comes with being able to get a good erection does wonders for libido. I love the blue pill and all of its cousins. I have such great sex with the help of the blue pill that it would be nuts for me not to take it.

There are some other things that will help libido/ED - testosterone replacement, certain formulations of DHEA, certain formulations of pregnenolone, citrulline/arginine, bremelanotide.

Viagra helps me get and keep an erection while wearing a condom, I'm 75...

Does Viagra increase ones desire for sex? Friends Dr gave him some since he told the Dr he wasn't feeling like being sexual. It sounds odd.

Greg
