Absolutely! You all did a good job.

Does anybody from RentMen care to comment on why you expose people who use your website, including members of this forum, to what obviously is scamming and bullshit?

Sean Andrews, Mike Reeves, and Toby Gooden are all in the same three cities at exactly the same time? Two of them (Mike and Toby) have no reviews and one of them (Sean) has one review which sounds like completely transparent bullshit - written by a presumably Gay man who was "ecstatic" to sit "mesmerized" by a "straight" college boy who he "spent an hour relaxing" with and then took to dinner? Possible, I guess. Mike and Toby happen to have exactly the same physical characteristics under "escort info:" same age, same height, same weight, same body type, same orientation (straight), etc. As of right now, (12:44 PM PST) Mike last logged into his ad 59 minutes ago, and Toby last logged in 59 minutes ago. What a coincidence, huh? Oh, and guess when Sean last logged in to his ad? 59 minutes ago. My guess is they probably even have the same IP address. I can't know that, but RentMen could. What a coincidence that would be!

I don't get how a supposedly professional website can't figure out what members of this forum obviously did - that you have people engaged in dishonest if not criminal activity and looking to rip people off?

Is there a brain up there, or just devil horns? Or are you just interested in getting paid money for fake ads? I know it sounds really paranoid, but that kind of behavior could lead people to turn on you if you ever got in trouble, you know?

http://rentmen.com/public/images/v2/logo.png

Maybe you folks at RentMen don't care, but here are at least three obvious customer service questions I have:

1. Where is the warning to people looking at your website about how to watch out for fakes and scams? I post free ads for things (not related to escorting) on Craig's List regularly, and you can't avoid a tab that warns you about scams and frauds and leads you easily to this:

http://www.craigslist.org/about/scams

What is RentMen doing to educate users on how to prevent scams like this? I see absolutely nothing. There is a link at the bottom of the page to "Report Bugs" or "Contact Rentmen.com" and when you click on it it opens a box to send an internal email, without explaining anything about what RentMen will do, if anything. You have a whole page called "About RentMen.com" that talks about "cookies" and the DMCA, but nothing about one totally obvious thing: scams. Don't people using your site have the right to know you have policies to help them prevent scams, like CraigsList does?

2. What is RentMen doing to use even simple computer software to prevent duplicate ads by scammers? CraigsList warns anyone posting an ad that if you post multiple versions of the same ad, they will delete all of them. To be honest, I've never tested that. But I assume the software is pretty simple and uses common words, dates, and numbers to identify if you have 5 ads up to sell the same used toaster for $20. So is it rocket science to figure out that Sean, Mike, and Toby are likely the same person running a scam? Why do you do NOTHING to protect users of your site from predators? Is it that you get paid for each of these ads, even if they are fake?

3. On this website, I can hit little buttons that say "warn" or "report." Look at the bottom of any post and you will see them. I spent 10 minutes looking for similar buttons on RentMen, so that I could warn RentMen staff that Sean/Mike/Toby is probably none of the above, and is scamming. Today is October 16th. YOU NEED TO GET THIS INVESTIGATED AND STOPPED NOW, RENTMEN. Sean/Mike/Toby is almost certain to scam people in Sacramento on October 19th. Sean/Mike/Toby is almost certain to scam people in Portland on October 20th. Sean/Mike/Toby is almost certain to scam people in Seattle on October 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25. I would like to hit the "warn" and "report" button on each of their ads now, to prevent scamming and possible criminal activity. Where is it?

This is pathetic. Websites like RentMen that behave this way are just asking for trouble, as far as I'm concerned.

Since our hot Southern boy Sean at least has one review, and does not sound like a carbon copy of the other two physically, I figured I'd look for more information on him. A Google reverse image search led me to this ad:

http://www.masseurfinder.com/members/seanandrew1993.shtml

Quoting verbatim from his ad:

"While i'm new to Massage but, I know how to please my clients. My specialty is Swedish massage, but I'm equally qualified to do deep tissue, sports and sensual massage."

I thought the posters on this thread, including me, were pretty smart, figuring out the stuff above, which RentMen doesn't seem to be able to. Obviously, this guy Sean must be a college boy, as he said in his RentMen ad, because he must be super smart, and a really quick learner. Even though he is "new" to massage, he already is a specialist in one area - Swedish - and "qualified" in three others: deep tissue, sports, and sensual. He's also quite modest. On masseurfinder under "experience" he lists "two years," so it's kind of humble to even say he is "new."

Good for you, Sean. You're obviously a very smart operator.

He's also obviously concerned about his top notch reputation.

His masseurfinder ad says this:

"If you look up my screen name you can find my excellent reviews."

I assumed he meant I'd find reviews under the masseurfinder "testimonial" tab, but there are none. So I Googled "Sean Andrews reviews" and found none. I looked under San Francisco and Northern California in Daddy's, since he says he's based in SF, and found none. So apparently the "excellent reviews" he is referring to is the one scammy sounding review on RentMen, which I referred to above. At least you got to give him credit for being concerned with his good reputation, whether he actually has one or not. And you got to hand it to RentMen, for giving him the venue he needs to put an ad on Masseurfinder making it sound like he has "excellent reviews," whether he actually does or not.

So now I'll add a 4th customer service question to RentMen, in addition to the 3 I posted above:

4. Does RentMen have policies to verify these reviews? I couldn't find anything about that on their website.

Oh, and I also Google reversed Toby, and came up with this:

http://rentmasseur.com/tobygooden

Quite obviously, these guys make great travel companions, seeing as how they are both in San Jose now, and they both have "two years" of massage experience. Geez, I wonder if they even studied massage together? They are like two peas in a pod!

And you want to know another amazing coincidence:

http://rentmasseur.com/seanandrew

It's now 2:51 PM PST, and both Sean and Toby were last online exactly 1 hour ago.

And let's not forget about Mike, of course:

http://rentmasseur.com/mikereeves

I'll be damned. Two years of massage experience, too! And him and Sean obviously must get along, because Sean is a

Hot Str8 Georgia Boy

and Mike is a

Hot Str8 Florida Boy

Like I said, two (or is it three?) peas in a pod!

Leading to my 5th and final customer service question:

5. Does RentMen bother doing a 10 second Google reverse image search like I just did, to detect scammy photos, or is that too much effort to protect users from scams?

Steven, I just emailed Rentmen webmaster to the effect that I have every reason to believe that these ads are part of a single scam. I included Jared Jordan who was part of the original LA4, but has since vanished at least for now. Thank you for your well written critique of the situation as it applies to Rentmen.

Good job Marshall Cogburn.

All kidding aside nice looking out for others guys. :)

Someone asked about him last month & at that time no one had any info to share.

IMO the only thing real about him is the Atlanta Braves baseball hat.

I sent them (meaning RentMen) three emails yesterday and have yet to hear back. I posted a link to this thread in my emails. Have you heard anything?

I would like RentMen to publicly respond to us and tell us how they plan to improve. This is bullshit.

The ads are still up. The travel plans to Sacramento, Portland, and Seattle are still listed.

Posted
So, am I going to have to be the one to book him and settle the issue once and for all?

Thank God, it never came to that.

~Boomer ~

Actually, I plan to book him, unless the ads are taken down in the next few days. The ads are still up, so I am assuming Sean/Mike/Toby is not reading this. Why would a scammy escort read a website like this that protects people from scams and helps keep escorting honest?

I have a Portland (503) phone number, and Sean/Mike/Toby plan to visit Portland. One of their ads somewhere actually says they like 4ways, I think. So it will be interesting to see if these real tight-knit buddies are all available to be hired at the same time.

My real target, obviously, is RentMen. It already to me is not a good sign that a day has passed, and at least two people (me and Desperado) have sent them multiple emails alerting them to a possible scam, and the ads are still up, and they have not responded, to me at least.

Just sent another email to RentMen using their "contact RentMen" internal email:

I believe these three ads are all being run by the same individual who is a scammer running fake ads and ripping people off. There is an immediate danger to individuals in Sacramento, Portland, and Seattle:

http://rentmen.com/seanandrew

http://rentmen.com/tobygooden

http://rentmen.com/mikereeves

I have posted about this on Daddy's Reviews and me and a number of people concerned about this are waiting to hear back from somebody from RentMen, both about what you know about this particular set of ads and your broader customer service and scam protection policies.

Does anyone know what happened to Irish69 aka Rentmen Rick?

Good question. I was just checking on the search bar when you posted that, and he's not listed as a member anymore

Also, this was posted about a month ago:

http://www.companyofmen.org/threads/rentmen-will-now-be-verifying-profilese.107526/

I'm not even 100 % sure I like that particular idea, but it's not my decision or problem. I'm with Killian 100 % though. This is a win-win-win. No reason for escorts to lose clients to fake scammer ads. No reason for clients to be vulnerable to that kind of abuse. No reason for RentMen to set themselves up to feel the way some people feel about Rentboy now - that they just didn't give a shit.

To me caveat emptor is Protection Rule # 1 and check on this website is Protection Rule # 2. But RentMen ought to have some kind of internal system, and it's not very clear to me that they do.

All three ads are now also running on Men4RentNow.com. I just emailed M4RN (for what it is worth, and I suspect not very much) the following message:

Hello, I have every reason to believe that three ads currently running on M4RNow are part of a single scam.

MikeReeves786

SeanAndrew1993

TobyGooden

They, if indeed there are three persons, are traveling as a team. They started out in LA, are now in SF and are moving on to Sacramento, Portland and Seattle. Both my attempts to contact them combined with extremely negative feedback from other members of Daddy's Reviews Forum have led me to conclude that these ads constitute fraudulent and possibly criminal activity. All three are also advertising on Rentmen.com. There is clear evidence that these guys are not who they say they are and are in collusion to defraud potential clients.

Posted

Time for this guy to vote with his wallet. Until Rentmen takes a stand on this and starts to give a crap about client safety, I will no longer support their website. Sorry escorts, if you advertise on Rentmen, until this is resolved, this means I can no longer patronize you.

I am cut and pasting the following response I got from Rick, and the response I just sent him:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rick:

Thanks for responding.

You are welcome to email me, but I am also going to cut and paste any private communication between us on the forum at Daddy's on this post:

http://www.companyofmen.org/threads/this-traveling-pack-has-me-concerned.108007/page-2#post-1009545

Please notice that in addition to the immediate issue of this particular alleged scam, I have asked five questions regarding broad customer service and scam prevention policies. I feel these are all very reasonable questions that are of concern to a number of people, both escorts and clients, that use Rentmen and that post on Daddy's. I think they merit discussion on Daddy's forum.

Let me also say a few things regarding my personal intention here. The word that sums it up is "partnership."

If you have been following the debate on Daddy's I am probably the most outspoken loudmouth that feels it is unfair to just throw the people who worked for Rentboy under the bus. Whether they were perfect or not, I think they deserve our support. I completely reject the attitude that this is not a "big deal" because other websites, like Rentmen, can pick up the slack, and that if Rentmen is targeted we can then just say "big deal" and throw you under the bus, too.

Instead, I feel we should be pro-active and websites, escorts, and clients should all be discussing and working on "best practices" and customer service policies that will help prevent any websites like Rentmen from being targeted like Rentboy was. I believe Rentboy actually did try to play that way, which is why they deserve support. I believe Daddy's is one appropriate place to have such a discussion because for years it has been a driver for standards and integrity within the industry. I assume that is why you have been a member there in the past, although I'm not sure if you still are.

I don't think it's reasonable to say that escort websites are responsible for every dishonest escort or client, any more than police departments are to blame for any particular dishonest cop. I think the goal should be "partnership" and policies that promote honesty and high standards.

Thanks, and we all look forward to Rentmen's response and cooperation.

You'll no doubt only get a message stating the webmasters have obtained what they consider "reasonable proof" that the guys are who they say they are.

That's the message I got back when I emailed rick about someone using fake pictures. I even messaged the guy whose pictures were stolen on twitter. He already knew about it,(had a big picture of it on his twitter with an OMG WTF, found it funny and hilarious, and was going to send a message to rentmen. so far the ad is still up.

I have no idea what they consider reasonable proof.. but no matter how super hot the guy is.. I wont be hiring him... If I do, I'm 99.9% sure it wont be the guy who shows up, and after rentmens endorsement of his validity... id go atomic..

Cut and pasted latest of a series of emails to RentMen. I sent the same one for each of the three ads: Sean Andrew, Toby Gooden, and Mike Reeves

Buckle your seat belts, guys. This may be a long and bumpy ride.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is another in what may become an endless series of emails I am sending to you on your servers and posting on public websites documenting that Rentmen appears to allow disreputable advertisers to scam people and does NOTHING about it when it is called to their attention.

I believe the following three ads are run by the same disreputable and dishonest advertiser:

http://rentmen.com/seanandrew

http://rentmen.com/tobygooden

http://rentmen.com/mikereeves

TODAY IS TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20. I WOULD LIKE YOU TO TEMPORARILY SUSPEND ALL THREE ADS IMMEDIATELY UNTIL YOU COMPLETE AN INVESTIGATION. IF THESE ADS ARE STILL RUNNING TOMORROW I WILL SEND YOU MORE EMAILS TOMORROW AND THE NEXT DAY AND THE NEXT DAY.

Here is a summary of why I believe the advertisements are dishonest and disreputable.

1. Several days ago when I sent the first emails to you I noted Sean/Toby/Mike were all in the same city on the same day. They were all in Sacramento on Oct. 19, Portland on Oct. 20, and Seattle Oct 21-25. Now Sean/Mike/Toby all plan to be in Salt Lake City on Oct. 26 and Denver Oct. 27-Nov 1. I have been monitoring each ad daily and each advertiser logs in at almost exactly the same time. For example, right now (12:13 PST) the last login listed for Sean/Toby/Mike are all "9 hours ago." This is clearly the same individual monitoring and updating ads presenting Sean/Toby/Mike as three different individuals.

2. The physical characteristics and language used on the ads of Toby and Mike are almost exactly the same. If you crossreference these ads with their ads on Masseurfinder the same is true.

3. I have been an escort for 15 years and the language used sounds like complete BS. If you read comments by me and others on the link below the ridiculousness of who they claim to be and the fantastic nature (as in unreal, a fantasy) of the one review Sean has are well documented.

Here is a summary of the 5 larger customer service issues I believe you also need to address:

1. Where is the generic warning on your website to educate users on how to avoid scams, including Rentmen's own scam protection policies?

2. What computer software do you employ (like Craiglist does) to easily detect scams?

3. Where is the "warn" or "report" button on each ad that I can use to report alleged or proven scams and obvious dishonest information, such as fake pictures?

4. What is your "review" verification process?

5. Do you have a process for verifying pictures are not fake, such as using Google reverse image search?

Thanks,

Steven Kesslar

I wanted to get this thread back to the top.

If you have been following the other thread going on in the Deli titled "Yet ANOTHER fake ad on Rentmen" you will know that we've had some initial success in getting a few scammer ads suspended by Rentmen, like of an escort named Robbyy who had pictures that clearly were of 3 or 4 different individuals, and told me to "fuck off" repeatedly.

I'd now like to focus attention on Sean/Mike/Toby which is the focus of this thread.

To me this scammer is a perfect test of a policy which should be easy to use when scammers have been identified as suspect, and which is similar to one Tristan Baldwin pointed out at least one other escort website uses: require them to submit selfies to Rentmen proving they are the same as the person in the images they use, including possibly a government ID.

Rentmen, are you prepared to do that?

I would like to suggest all of you reading this thread text Sean and/or Toby and/or Mike and ask any or all of them to text you a current selfie taken TODAY to prove they are who they say they are. Since all three escorts have clear face pictures, it is a reasonable request and if they comply it should put this controversy to rest and they can then enjoy being left alone. If they can't, it should help Rentmen to document this is one scammer using multiple pilfered images.
