All that time in college I spent learning Fortran and Pascal. And it's basically useless for modern computing.

Ha! Yes - I learned Basic in grade school, and I think eventually Fortran as well. They're dinosaur languages now, I guess.

Hi Everyone,

I've been told by RentMen that anyone still having issues connecting to the website, should be resolved within the next 48hrs. They encourage to still clear your cache & browsers in the meanwhile.

I think it may have been due to a summer class I took after 4th grade, though maybe it was after 5th grade. Somewhere in the 1974-5 range. The "computer" back then was just a single terminal (very much like an electric typewriter - everything was typed directly to paper) hooked up by phone modem to the central computer system at the Board Of Education building. You had to dial into the main system, wait for the beeping sound, then place the phone handset in the modem...then the computer would power up. Nothing like what we have today, obviously. But it was very fun to learn how to write my own programs, design my own games, and stuff like that.

Not so much older then. I was in 8th grade in 74-75. You actually learned BASIC before I did as a senior in high school 78-79 on our two WANG computers.

I do not have any connection problems and rent men looks and works great in my iPad, but I DO NOT LIKE IT. I cannot find the profile I created 4 years ago when I first joined the website. Many of the guys I check up send me messages asking if I am interested on them. They should have a "erase your trace" function like a4a. I am missing rentboy.

I'm sure you can delete your account. You are obviously signed in if escorts are seeing you looking at their ads. Go to the 'controls'. And either delete-or if it asks for a password-go to the update password option. It will send you an email. And from there you should be able to delete your account. Failing that-access it with a different browser. You wont automatically be signed in on that one (download a new browser if you need to) and surf anonymously to your heart's content.

PS-on the control panel there is a 'Visibility' option which I am sure controls whether your surfing can be seen. Turn it off!!

I will check your "visibility" tip.

About my profile, I do not want to delete it. I know I have it, I know my user name and password and I do use them to log in. I opened the account 5 years ago and never used it because never liked the site. The problem is I do not remember what info I shared 5 years ago and want to update it.

Ok I'm not a technology guy by any means. But I want to say that from the start of the "tragedy" I have had not problems accessing Rentmen from my laptop. And just to be clear I am traveling away from home using a hotel wi-fi.

But all this techno talk is fascinating. o_O

Again my offer of sanctuary stands for survivors.

SANCTUARY ALL THAT ARRIVE SURVIVE. :D

Once I turned off wifi on my iPad I was able to access Rentmen.com, tho it does seem like RM has removed many stats and options. And YES, I have Time Warner!

Posted

Can't get it on my MacBook Pro using Comcast nor with my iPhone via Verizon or Comcast. I've tried Chrome, Firefox and Opera. Safari on the iPhone. Cleared caches. Nothing works except sometimes I get a 404 instead of "default site."

Posted

I was able to access it via Frontier WiFi on my iPad this AM after not being able to do so on Friday.

Edited to note that it now also works on my PC as well via my WiFi connection.

With any luck we're back in business!

At least it's different this morning. No default page or 404 page. The site just wouldn't load at all - maybe due to a huge uptick in traffic?

Rentmen would not load with Firefox (no default page or 404 error however) which was encouraging considering the last few days.

BUT....eureka!! I was able to get on immediately for the first time since the 'kerfuffle' with IE. I'm on a PC running Windows 7...if that helps anyone.

Same here - the tab kinda "sputters" as it tries to load, but nothing else happens and it doesn't seem to want to land on the site. Perhaps it is a traffic issue. Glad not to see the default page at least. I'll check it later tonight and perhaps it'll be better.

Just a guess, but I would think that BVB has been watching a bit too much Judge Judy of late!

In any event, at least for me the RentMen 'kerfuffle' seems to be over since I can also access it via my Windows 7 PC using IE!

LOL....Haven't been watching her lately, because they are all repeats, hence the misspelling.."Kurfuffle"...;)

My Mom likes her. I can't stand her. (I'm talking about Judge Judy-not my Mom). She's mean (again I'm talking about Judge Judy). And for that matter I don't like Dr. Laura either. She never listens or allows the caller to speak. She was once on Bill O'Reilly's show. She announced the next day she would never go back because he never allowed her a word in edgewise. I thought, "HA!!!," now you know how your callers feel.

Oh and incidentally-I continue to be able to access Rentmen just as I have throughout this horrible Rentboy ordeal.

Well, I had no idea how to spell it. My spellchecker corrected it, which is not always the case as it usually messes things up and often in a quite comical manner.

I had assumed that the word was Yiddish in origin, but it actually is of Scottish derivation!

In any event, RentMen is loading perfectly!

Incidentally, Judge Judy has a place in SW Florida. I've never seen her there, but have spoken to those who have. We don't travel in the same circles...

I always forget about the other browsers because I'm so used to Chrome. I tried IE and RM loaded without a hitch.
