I always thought it was the other way around. At the very least, cats require less direct care, though calling them less high-maintenance might be a stretch. But dogs may be easier to love. If I had the time, energy and space, I'd get another beagle. (I had one as a kid.)

Showing love is for dogs. With us Persians, the worship goes in one direction. But trust me, we're worth the Claritin.

I grew up with dogs, but have never had one as an adult since I've never been in a position to adequately care for one until now. Love it. Going to work with a lick from her still wet on my face, anticipating the drive home for the outlandish welcome she gives me, watching her sit on the couch with her head hanging over the back with that "Play with me!" expression while I'm on the computer.
