I doubt if you will have much luck finding escorts in Monterey.

Your best bet would be try to spend a day or two in San Francisco

at either the start or the end of your trip.

As a denizen in this area and its environs for some 35 years, I have seen Monterey undergo a massive metamorphasis in terms of its gay venues, etc. The place is deadly dull in terms of having a visible gay community,gay places to go, and guys with which to have fun and to pay. There are NO male escorts who advertise anywhere here; the closest city for all of this is definitely San Francisco which is some 125 miles away; as far as clubs go, the previous writer clued you in on the ONLY one that is here. I've been to this club/restaurant once; that was some three or four years ago, and it wasn't to my liking then, and I haven't been since. But check it out and draw your own conclusions. It's a start!

 

The Monterey Peninsula is an extremely beautiful place, but it is quite, quite devoid of any discernible and useful gay activities. Gays here tend to be either closeted, with a partner, or be a member of a group of some 800 or 900 gays/lesbians/transgendered folks who meet once a month for some type of social outlet. I once belonged to this group, too, but have since abandoned it. This club did not meet my needs at all!

You might try both Santa Cruz and San Jose, which are not really that much closer than San Francisco, but at least are one hour less in driving, approximately. While you will find a more minimal amount of types available, perhaps not even what you seek, there are a few. As you were advised above, your best bet is to either do without or to travel to San Francisco (or consider the expense of bring someone down from San Francisco).

 

As Axiom stated, it is a beautiful area and there is much to do that is not specifically gay. Enjoy your stay in Northern California.

I may extend my trip over the weekend, surely I can get into some trouble in San Fran, lolol! Any other gays clubs there in Monterey, excluding the one mentioned here?

WOW! I can't believe it - I went to school in Monterey 25 yrs ago and there was more happening then! There used to be a great bar in Pacific Grove called the After Dark, restaurant in Monterey called The Clock and another gay bar in Monterey - and some of the bar/restaurants in Carmel were also gathering places - there was a large bookstore/restaurant at entrance to Carmel Valley and also a resort in Carmel Valley, Rancho ? where the boys would hang out around the pool during the day. I havent been back to Monterey or Carmel since I left in 1980 - said I would only go back when I could retire and stay for good - but from the sounds of things I think Monterey has less to offer in terms of gay life than it did 25yrs ago - find that really bizarre since it is perhaps one of the most beautiful places on earth and always had a very liberal gay friendly population.

The Clock Restaurant and The After Dark, a mellow and tastefully designed gay bar in New Monterey, not Pacific Grove, were two great venues for gays up until five or ten years ago. The two posts preceding mine brought back fond memories.:-)

 

Thanks, but most of my sexual activites were principally confined to the San Francisco Bay area; although I could have hit it and hit it hard here, I would travel to my favorite city for these exciting adventures! lol

 

To digress slightly; yes, this is one of the damn most beautiful areas in our world. When I was in Parati, Brazil in November-- I took a day cruise which was magnificent. While I was getting back on the boat after being left at shore, some women noted that I was an Americano and asked the place from which I hailed. I told them; they smiled and complimented this great beautiful place. Tis truly a pity that we gay brothers and our sisters have no place to go here on the Monterey Peninsula for our social outlets.

 

Last evening a friend of mine and I drove down the fantastic, elegant coast Hwy 1 to Big Sur and went to our favorite haunt, Nepenthe's, the place made famous by the late Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor in their film "The Sandpiper'! We watched the most beautiful sunset from the outer deck of this restaurant/gift shop. We sat there reminiscing and reflecting on when we first came here and the prices of food, past travels to others beautiful points of our world: Costa Rica and Greece, and compared...

 

It's too bad that I don't have the $$$$$$$'s to have invested in my own gay venues to accommodate my fellow cyberbuddies and other gm and gw and tg's...:-) :9 :-)

Gee, this thread is bringing back my own memories of 1979 when I first visited San Francisco. I then rented a car and drove down to Monterey, Carmel and Big Sur. What a beautiful drive! I just took my time and meandered along, visiting spots I had read about, like Cannery Row. The sardine factories were all closed up. Just the ghosts of Steinbeck.

 

I loved watching the mist roll in in Big Sur. I drove around the whole Monterey Peninsula and had lunch in Carmel and remember all the handicraft shops. It was just nice and relaxing.

 

And then I went back to San Francisco and fucked my brains out!!! }(
