Have to admit that a few of these guys were pretty obscure and that while I was aware of most of them, I would have found it hard to compile a similar list as most of them are not on my radar or gaydar

'Michael', I think. I won't make another ironic claim not to know something (my apologies to the state of Oregon) as I tend to be taken literally. Even as a foreigner I can't claim not to know who Michael is.

Oh, I know who Michael Sam is, lol. Just commenting on the spelling.

 

He was a college football player who made a huge splash last year when he came out. There was a lot of controversy as to whether any NFL team would sign him. The St. Lous Rams drafted him, but they didn't ultimately keep him on the team (again, some controversy as to whether he was a good enough player in the first place, and if the media hype over the sexuality issue hadn't been so prominent, he might not have been drafted at all.) He now plays with the Montreal Alouettes.

Indeed, I didn't doubt that you knew who he was, Boston! I followed his coming out and despaired at his failure to secure a place on an NFL team. I worried that when he signed with and left the Alouettes he was flaking out, so I was glad when he went back to them.
