I'm sure y'all have all heard by now that Josh Duggar's name has been found in the database. I suppose it could have been put there to embarrass him. It will be interesting to see what he says about it.

But am I in the minority of the Forum to have never heard of Ashley Madison until I read about them here?

If so, I am also in that minority. I'm not sure if I heard of them here first or in other social media, but I hadn't heard of them until the news of the data leak broke.

On second or third thought, I might have heard about them on a radio program rather than here. But it was definitely not until the data leak either way.

The data regarding Duggar is time-stamped, so it wasn't added later. Who could have guessed he would turn out to be such a hypocrite, given all the work he's done for the Family Research Council? Oh, wait...

But an enemy could have entered his name. I mean even the credit card isn't absolute proof. If someone could hack the Ashley Madison database someone could hack his credit card number.

It's entirely feasible that someone may have entered his name and details, but why? Would they have any way of predicting that the details on the website would become public? Seems like a long bow to me!

Yup. Crystal balls are untrustworthy.

I guess we'll have to hate the sin and love the sinner.

Josh Duggar has confessed to cheating on his wife Anna amid reports he signed up for Ashley Madison, a website that specializes in facilitating extramarital affairs.

Josh, 27, and his parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar broke their silence Thursday on the Duggar family website.

Introducing Josh's statement, Jim Bob and Michelle wrote, "When we learned of this late last night our hearts were broken. As we continue to place our trust in God we ask for your prayers for Josh, Anna, our grandchildren and our entire family."

Josh put forth this statement: "I have been the biggest hypocrite ever. While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife.

I am so ashamed of the double life that I have been living and am grieved for the hurt, pain and disgrace my sin has caused my wife and family, and most of all Jesus and all those who profess faith in Him.

I brought hurt and a reproach to my family, close friends and the fans of our show with my actions that happened when I was 14-15 years old, and now I have re-broken their trust.

The last few years, while publicly stating I was fighting against immorality in our country, I was hiding my own personal failings.

As I am learning the hard way, we have the freedom to choose our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences. I deeply regret all hurt I have caused so many by being such a bad example.

I humbly ask for your forgiveness. Please pray for my precious wife Anna and our family during this time."

What? "I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife." Dirty pictures made you do it? I look forward to loony right-wing Christians calling to ban dirty pictures. Jeebus...

I have to wonder if any of this could have been prevented or caught at an earlier stage if his parents hadn't been so intent on trying to single-handedly repopulate Arkansas or gotten him serious help when he was found to be fondling young girls. I hope he gets the help he needs. On the other hand what infuriates me, obviously, is him and his family calling us immoral.

I'd be even more impressed if he apologized for ever presenting himself as a moral example, and I'd be dazzled if his acolytes apologized for deifying him in the first place.

Religion is full of warnings against idolatry and history is loaded with stories about clay feet. I guess there's just no end of folks who are looking to put other folks up on pedestals. (In all honesty, I've done it myself but never for more than an hour and rarely without forking over a couple hundred bucks. http://www.boytoy.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif )

His parents are total nut-jobs, so getting serious help was way above their skill-set.

Guest Starbuck

(AP) – Hundreds of U.S. government employees — including some with sensitive jobs in the White House, Congress and law enforcement agencies — used Internet connections in their federal offices to access and pay membership fees to the cheating website Ashley Madison, the Associated Press has learned.

The AP traced many of the accounts exposed by hackers back to federal workers. Few actually paid for their services with their government email accounts. But AP traced their government Internet connections and reviewed their credit-card transactions to identify them. They included workers at more than two dozen agencies, including the departments of State, Defense, Justice, Energy, Treasury, Transportation and Homeland Security. Others came from House or Senate computer networks.

Some Justice Department employees appeared to use pre-paid credit cards to help preserve their anonymity but ... wait for it ... connected to the service from their office computers. (So that was clever!)

The AP's analysis also found hundreds of transactions associated with Department of Defense networks, either at the Pentagon or from armed services connections elsewhere. Defense Secretary Ash Carter on Thursday confirmed the Pentagon was looking into the list of people who used military email addresses. Adultery can be a criminal offense under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. "I'm aware it," Carter said. "Of course it's an issue because conduct is very important. And we expect good conduct on the part of our people. ... The services are looking into it, as well they should be. Absolutely."

Apparently the " porn made me do it!" claim has been deleted from Duggar's statement.

Oh good. A sex witch hunt in the government. That will be helpful. I heard one nut on the radio say it was important to do because being on an adultery web site made them vulnerable to blackmail. Sheesh.
